GC technical problems
Is it just me, or have the GC servers/software/database been a little flaky lately?
It just took me 5 tries and 20 minutes to post a reply to a thread (and that's aside from the time I spent writing the reply). My browser frequently hangs when I try to access forums or posts. Sometimes, even though I use cookies, I come to GC to find I'm not logged in. It's getting to be quite frustrating. I suspect either database, software, or bandwidth problems. Anyone else? Or am I just cursed? :) |
Yes there are problems but I assure you John is trying to get them worked out. GC is a busy place these days.

Oh the irony....it took me three times to get into this thread...
Maybe the system is overweight with threads, posts and pms? |
The server is probably overloaded.
|
hehe ironically enough it also took me a few tries to read this thread ;)
i immediately started cursing the UML network before i realized it was the site.. lol... |
mac or pc?
i have a PC at home but usually use a MAc when i am at school. I have more issues trying to log on and view threads on OSX than i do at home on XP. maybe it's cuz i have just developed temp internet files for this site and the macs at school are just flakey themselves. anyone else agree?

We get what we pay for
Hey I'm glad that something that is FREE works at all! Keep up the good work.

Yeah, the intermittent outages are a pain in the butt, but nothing compares to two summers ago when John switched servers and we went for DAYS without it! |
Ever since I started posting here there are a lot of times when this board is slow as hell.
UNACCEPTABLE. Fix this shit now. |
Until you've sent money you can't really complain. A free service that works at all is reason to be thankful.
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. |
Ok. Thanks.

I can only log on at work for some reason. At home I NEVER can get logged on to reply. I have Windows XP at home. When I enter my user name and password, the next screen comes up and says thank you for logging in, but then it goes back to you are not logged in. Nothing seems to make it work at home. What in the world am I doing wrong? I am NOT good with computer stuff, so I am liable to be missing the obvious answer.
Any ideas? Lizz |

My internet (and GC especially) have been very slow for the past two weeks. :(
Today when I signed on it was very zippy! Yay! :) |
