Weird situation

Alright, we were going to lose our house, because we weren't going to have enough men to fill it- UMass has a bit of a recruitment problem, and even though our rush classes the last couple semesters have been biggish, our house is bigger.

The solution: we're sharing our house with the Sigma Tau Gamma colony. Since neither of us is big enough to maintain our own house (nor will we be, at least for a few years), we're going to share the facility. I know it's unusual, but I think it'll work.

Just gotta figure out where we're gonna put their letters....maybe the back of the house.

Actually I dont find this that odd. At my school we have one large greek dorm, where most groups are split up by wing. Well one semester my chapter could not fill our wing, so we split off an end of it and had a fraternity living in it.

What a great opportunity for your chapter! I'm glad you get to keep your house. Hope everything goes well!

It'll work. At Auburn, each sorority dorm had an all-one-sorority floor, a mixed floor of that same sorority and independents or other Greeks, and a third floor of all independents or other Greeks. One year I lived on the mixed ChiO-and-others floor in their dorm because I couldn't get into the Pi Phi dorm; we also had a Tri Delt and a KD. As long as one group doesn't invade the other's "secret" space, it should be fine!

Is the house divided like a duplex at all? If so, just put your letters on one side and theirs on the other...our house at VCU is like that.

If not, I would say have an entrance for each group (front door/back door) and that's where the letters go.

I'm glad you figured out a solution! You guys will probably have a blast together. :D

Basically, work it out or you will both be gone and that does no one any good! Put Letters on Opposite ends of the House Facing or on the ends!

This homecoming, we were the first Fraternity to work with another Fraternity ( STG ) on float building!

Da, we are all in it together, live or die!

You are not there, then what can you do?

Pretty cool. I look forward to hearing how it turns out!

That could be good or bad.. depending on the people and attitudes involved. Better that you set some pretty firm ground rules and maybe get some stuff in writing before going into this.

Good luck!
