University or Tulsa and/or Houstonians?
Hello! Well I am brand new to this site and have already said " hello " to my wonderful KD sisters. Now I wanted to see if there were any U of Tulsa Alums and/or Houstonians out there? I would be SO surprised to find a fellow TU alum in Houston... any out there?
|
I'm the daughter of a TU alum...does that count? :)
Welcome to GC! |
I am from Houston!;) Welcome to Greekchat, you are going to love it here!
What part of Houston are you from? |
Me too!
Welcome to Greek Chat. I'm pretty recent too.
I was born up north, but came to Texas as soon as I could. I'm in Houston myself - Med Center area! Feel free to drop a line! Adrienne :) |
I went to the University of St. Thomas for a bit. The medical center is only about 5 - 7 minutes away, so I was always visiting a friend of mine who was at Rice University at the time. Even though the schools are not that far apart, the areas they are in are definitely very different. I'm sure you know what I mean. I love the medical center area. I always secretly wished that St. Thomas was there. I lived on campus and as beautiful as it is, the Rothko Chapel was in my backyard. An actual neighborhood was to my right.
Ahhh, I have lots of memories from when I was at St. Thomas and living in Houston. I've been thinking about going back to St. Thomas, but when I was there two years ago, it was not for me -- that's why I left. I don't know, but there's something about Houston that's leaning me towards going back. I go to Houston every so often to visit. I have a good amount of cousins up there who I am close to. They all live in the NW area, over by 1960/249. There are a few others in the Cypress area as well. Ahhh, okay, I definitely wrote a good amount and I have no idea why. I'm sorry for rambling. I guess it's b/c I am missing Houston more than I ever thought I would. :( |
Don't apologize for rambling--hey, it's a message board! You're supposed to ramble once in a while!
No kidding re: different neighborhoods from Rice and St Thomas.;) But if/when you do come back--you will NOT recognize the Med Center. Every heavy construction group in the state is working on a site, and that tall art-deco building where M. D. Anderson's satellite offices are now is slated for demolition soon! Hugs, Adrienne :) |
I was in Houston at the beginning of October and we drove through the med center. Although it was 10pm and very dark out, it did look different. I can't imagine what it would look like during daylight. One of the things I noticed was a dorm that was under construction at Rice two years ago was finished. I totally did not recognize the area b/c of that.
And yes, there was/is a lot of construction going on in that area. We got lost going through detours a few times! It was a bit frustrating. |
I spent last weekend at the Houston Omni. Does that count as being a Hostonian?
