I have a Lil Sis!
 

Every fall we always do a small COB pledge class. It's generally sophomores and sometimes a few juniors. Well I'm a sophomore myself and this is my first year living in the house. I'm also the person who posted a while back about getting a new Big Sis. My Big Sis withdrew last May. She was never really there for me and my first semester in the house would have went a lot smoother if I had her to live with. Someone adopted me as their Lil Sis, but it wasn't official or anything.

I decided that whenever I became a Big, I was going to do an awesome job making my Lil feel loved. I wanted to spoil the hell out of her.

Well anyways... as a member of the new member education committee, I got to know all of the new girls very well. They're all really wonderful, sweet and cute.... but I absolutely adore one of them. Her name is Jen. All through her new member period, we talked and laughed. We have a lot in common and I really have a lot of fun with her. That's why I was so nervous when it was time for them to turn in their rankings. I was so worried that maybe she didn't list me. But after they turned in their rankings and left, I ran upstairs to find out if I was on her list. And...

I was her number one choice!!!! :D

I am sooo excited! I went out and bought her a ton of stuff. All of it is so cute. I'm also giving her clues every day, but 2 truths and a lie. One of my sisters was asking Jen if she knew who her Big Sis was and she said she was hoping for someone, but she doesn't think she got her.

I can't wait until Thursday when she finds out I am her Big!! I am writing her a letter and telling her how much I love her and how happy I am that I get to be her Big. I'm so excited :)

CONGRATULATIONS! HOW EXCITING!

My big was like the meaning and reality for me about what Phi Mu was and could be. My favorite things about big/little week:

~ every day she'd have someone tell me where to get my gift (another sister's apartment, usually, so I got to meet a lot of the new girls.) Then she'd leave a note in a little journal she'd bought, talking about how she'd felt during her pledge period, what Phi Mu meant to her now vs. then, and suggestions and encouragement for ME during my Phi period. It was awesome -- made a HUGE difference for me.

~ I also received letters on my initiation day, which for some reason truly made me feel like a member of the group (a Phi Mu can't wear her letters until she's initiated.) A lavilere might have done the same thing though. ;-)
