It was good, I like the rapping battles Em is in.

I liked it. I agree that the battles were good. The one thing that I did not like was the ending because it ended kind of abruptly for me.

I saw it today. It started off slow but then it picked up. The best part of the movie was the battle scenes:D I'll probably purchase it once it comes out on DVD.

MY friend seen the movie and she said that it was, but she said that she didnt like the ending! In reading everyones posts I guess I must go see the moive now! I can't wait

I saw it last night...it was ok. I think the trailers for it are better than the actual movie, but Eminem did a pretty good job acting.

Liked it!
I saw the movie the day it opened. I really liked it. I think Em did a great job. He seemed very natural at acting. I liked all the battles they did as well. The best part was him and Future (Mekhi) sitting outside his trailer...that song was HILARIOUS!!!
The only thing I didn't really like was how they portrayed Detroit. They showed some ROUGH sides of the city. I'm a native Detroiter and I was feeling sorta like they could've showed some nicer sides, in addition to the not-so-hot sides. Detroit isn't all as run down as they showed. I know b/c I grew up in a nice hood and my parent's hood is just as nice if not better (we live in the actual city, not the Detroit suburbs). They tried to justify it when the one character spoke about how terrible the neighborhoods/houses were and that the city should do something about it. But that wasn't enough for me personally. In fact, where Em taped the trailer scenes was actually directly across the street from the hood I grew up in. But yea, I didn't really care for the city's portrayal. I understand they were trying to make the movie realistic, but realistically, Detroit isn't all like that. (just had to say all that cuz that's my hometown!) :) ;) Anyway, overall, I liked the movie. I think I'll buy this when it comes out. |
8 Mile is a good movie to go and see! I may be bias though since I'm from DETROIT...lol:D

I enjoyed the movie, esp. the battles. HOWEVER, i have a serious, ultra-big problem with the "dreds" on Mekhi Phifer (sp, my bad)...
What was going on atop his head? He couldn't have been cool with that, not from day one of shooting to "it's a wrap"... i'm not sure you could have paid me enough money to look set up like that, character or not. |

I enjoyed the movie. I was shocked at the fact that I wanted to see it in the first place(not a huge Eminem fan). However, he was very good. Some of the dialogue was a little weak, but overall, it was good. I laughed out loud a few times. Why did I want to give Cheddar Bob (MC Bob) a hug?
BTW I am crazy! Why did I go see this movie on Monday, along with a million rowdy teenagers who were out for the holiday. It was chaotic. Also, one of the teenagers made me feel old when he approached me to ask if I would buy tickets for him and his friends :-( |
I saw the movie on Saturday, and it was much better than I thought it was going to be. I have a bit more respect for EM now. Anyone that can freestyle, and well is good. I saw freestyle rapping back in the day, and I was amazed at the guys that were able to do it.
I have a question for anyone that may know. I know that Em's group D12 were the guys in the movie that were his boys. Is Future apart of the group D12. They were just so tight, and I can't see him leaving him behind. Oh and I wasn't feeling the dredds from the moment I first saw a trailer for the movie. |
