HELP! Is there a way you can join a house after you DA?!
I DAed last year from my sorority basically because I made the wrong choice and we got iniated so quickly. I tried to make myself like it, but it just didnt happen. I am kinda feeling left out not being a part of the greek system and I would love to join another house~but from what I understand once you drop a house you're done. Is there anyway around this?! Or am I locked out for life?

Depends, I depledged Alpha Psi Rho, waited a year, then joined Delta Sig. Best move I ever made. I think as long as you dont join a GLO in the same council as the one you dropped you're fine. APsiRho was USFC and DSP is IFC so I was ok.

I was an AXO, and I was initiated. From what I know, I do think all the sororites at my school are under panhellenic.
|
if you were initiated then you are f***ed. but only if it is panhellenic, i think. if you find a local i think you can go for it. i know there has got to be someone on here who is more informed.

Was it the actual sorority you didn't like, or just your chapter?

NPHC groups will not accept members initiated into an NPC group. |

Well, smr78, if you are planning on transferring in the future, tell the new folks you've never been a part of another sorority, better yet don't bring it up at all, it may make them suspicious. Just hope that they don't do a thorough background check (some don't).
But, I wouldn't go there, it isn't worth it. Perhaps you can try a local or special interest GLO at your school, it won't be the same, but you should have fun. |

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with your chapter, and I hope that you are able to find a local or service organization that is a good fit for you. :) Good luck! |
From the NPC Website...
III. The Panhellenic Compact (Excerpted statements of membership eligibility)
A woman who is or who has ever been an initiated member of an existing NPC fraternity shall not be eligible for membership in another NPC fraternity. (1) My understanding of this is that NPC does have a set policy on being initiated into more than one NPC group. |

OK, so the conclusion is: If you were EVER in a NPC group, you can NEVER join another one. smr78, your only options are to a) join a service fraternity, music fraternity, or professional fraternity, b) join a local, or c) CREATE a local. |
I’m very sorry to hear that your Greek experience was not what you expected. It must have been a difficult decision for you to leave your sorority entirely.
As you have already gathered from the other posts, admission into another NPC sorority is prohibited, but I do hope you strongly consider the other suggestions made. As already suggested, you can look into the Local sororities, if there are some, on your campus. I have to admit that I had very little experience or knowledge of local groups until I came here to Greek Chat, but my respect and admiration for these groups has grown immeasurably and I think that they provide a wonderful sisterhood experience. Also, Greek letter service organizations are also a fantastic option, please take this suggestion seriously as well. These organizations accomplish so much within their communities and also provide that "familial" bond. Beta Sigma Phi may be another, really amazing option for you. It is my understanding, although I may be wrong about this, that an NPC membership, active or revoked, does not impede membership in this group. If you are eligible I suggest you look at their website and really consider membership within their sisterhood. good luck with your search for your home, violets |
