"Virtual" little sisters!
Hey my amazing local sisters!:)
Well, as most of you probably know, my sorority expanded to a Beta chapter this fall. Things are progressing slowly. We have a large pledge class for our Alpha chapter (14 girls) AND a large pledge class for our Beta chapter (also 14 girls!). We decided with our Beta chapter to have virtual big sisters, as the school is 4 hours away from our Alpha chapter's school.....which was great news for me! It gave me the opportunity to be a big sister again....from Florida!!!!:) I now have 3 little sisters in our Beta chapter (my sorority asked me to have multiple because of our extremely large pledge classes this semester...they're the biggest ever!:D) Anyway, my question to y'all is I need ideas of what to do, virtually. I have my little sister's phone numbers and plan on calling them, sending cards and emails, and hopefully meeting them when I'm home, but what else can I do?! I thought of having a weekly chat session with all the bigs and littles, which I think we will do. Our big/little program isn't as extensive as some I've read about in the states, we do try to make sure that the bigs get together with their littles once a week to meet and chat, and always help them with any sorority (or other!) related questions they have. That's the reason I thought of the chat room once a week....it's kinda like being there, online, with our little sisters. Obviously we won't have any ceremonies or such, as that would be too difficult (our sisters living around the world are taking little sisters...it's great!!!). So, do any of you have ideas on what we can do to make sure our little sisters feel the IBX love?! I want them to try to have the same experience I did when pledging the sorority.....as much as possible anyway! So let me have your ideas y'all!:) |
Re: "Virtual" little sisters!
Hey Vera! Congratulations on your little sisters!
You could sent them e-cards or use snail mail and send them a few letters or homemade cards...homemade stuff is the best :) Maybe order some flowers online and have them delivered. If I think of anything else I'll post it! |
How about a care package? HOMEMADE COOKIES!! Yum, yum!! You can also put a few knick-knacks and other small homemade gifts. :D
Congrats on your extended family. |
Thanks for the ideas y'all!:)
I wish I could send them hommade cookies...but it would be WAY too expensive....I'm in Florida..my little sisters are in New Brunswick. I do plan on sending them cards in the mail...and maybe I'll send them a little something when I'm home for Christmas (cheaper to send it then!:D) Keep the ideas coming!:) I'm sooooo excited to have little sisters again!!!!!!!:D:D:D |
That's ADORABLE!
you could try sending them little things in the mail... I think the chat is a great idea, btw... hmmm. Maybe some sorority-related stuff especially, like letters. |
Having virtual bigs is awesome. We do something similar when we have new chapters. My little is two states over, so we send each other snail mail, we come visit, when we get the chance as well as mail and we chat and call.So there is tons of things you can do. Holiday cards and all sorts of things.

that is such a cool idea!!! a weekly chat would be great! sending a care package might be cheaper (???) if you send one and have three gifts in it. maybe you can order some letters or something online and have them shipped...again i dont know about the cost. for their initiation you could order flowers from a flower shop near their school and have them delievered. maybe you can check out businesses in their area and see if there are things you could have delievered....maybe there is a bake shop who delievers! can you send them signs to decorate their doors? go with one package with 3 names! i am sure they would understand not getting their own envelope from you!
good luck |
