Hey guys-
I'm new on the boards (heard about them through the grapevine) but I just got my email from Sandy Grossman last night and I'm on the Expansion Committee!! I am SO excited - and I definetly plan on using this site as a resource - so if you hear about opportunities, let me know!!

OK I have a question..... HOW DID YOU GET ON THE EXPANSION COMMITTEE ? and can I join ?? What's the details do you have to be alum ? or what ??!! I WOULD LOVE TO JOIN !!.. ok.. now that I've gone crazy with my questions... we will be GLAD to help you with anything we can... if you've read any old threads you know that there are a few of us on here...(I know Angel PhiSig and PhiSig4 Eva included) that have some very strong feeligns on expansion and would LOVE to know more about how it works and Phi Sig's plan for growth !!! WOOHOO

A while ago I got an email (so did everyone in my chapter) from nationals about collegians on committees. i think there were six different committees you could apply for, like public relations (or something like that) and the collegian advisory board (as jess_pom got chosen for). anyway, i think any collegian could apply but now that the application deadline has passed i dont know if you can join :(

when i hear from lynne i can let you know if there are any openings! i've been reading through these threads and i am very very excited to get started! thanks for your help guys.

My chapter did not get an e mail like this that I know of. As I am scribe I am in charge of the chapter's E mail and check it like twice a week.... :( that is soo sad that I didn't find out about this...

I just got back for a conference for Greek Life in Canada...i'm going to write a report 'bout it, so look for expansion ideas in a couple weeks when i'm done!!

i am looking to bring a new chapter to my school and I'm sure if you are the person that can help me... Hey there!!! Just read on www.canadiangreeks.com that UBC (British Columbia) is planning on colonizing TWO NPC orgs over the next two years. invites have been sent to NPC but please bring this up to your committee!!!!

You'll probably see this on the greek life forum but someone just posted about U of New Mexico is opening for expansion in January. Now I know that we don't have any chapters any where in close to New Mexico but I would be willing to fly from California to try to help colonize if it was needed. I'd love to see another Western State Chapter colonize.



I've edited this message to delete the name of the person I've been in contact with at UBC at her request. Since it looks like UBC is going to give first choice to a couple of sororities that have already been there and my friend won't be there long enough to see who the second group would be (she graduates in about a year) she's going to pursue other avenues. I just wish her well and want to thank her for thinking enough of Phi Sigma Sigma to even see what the process would be to bring them to UBC.

At UBC, AOPi and Kappa Alpha Theta have both been on campus, AOPi left in 85 and Theta in 80...

personally i think that first dibs clause should be void after a chapter has been gone for more than 5 years....

But I think it's still worth an effort!! There's an alum chapter in Seattle...that's not too far right?? I'm sure we might have lots of support....

has Bookish babe made an interest group?

i emailed lynn with both -- they are probably a little bit of a stretch on our resources since there really aren't any chapters that are THAT close, but whatever -- it's all about stretching our wings, right?

I think we could use some stretching....besides, like i wrote, there are alum only 2 1/2 hrs from UBC...that's not too bad (the Beta Omega chapter is only :p a five hour drive away)...and heck, i'd be willing to move there, chances are i won't get into grad school next year, so i'll have nothing else on my plate!!
Heck, if immigration wasn't a problem i'd move to New Mexico!!!

I just really want to see another canadian chapter...we only have two! AOPi has five and Theta 3, i want more too!

I heard from Lynn, and it was very good that you told me about these expansion opportunities, because she hadn't even heard about NMSU! just thought i'd let you know that she appreciated the heads up from me, and i appreciate it from you!!

oh and PS... lynn and members of her team are doing presentations at TWO universities this friday!!

i dont know i'm allowed to say where, but here's a hint - they are both in states that where we have no chapters at this time (at least, as far as i know). I think I am starting to understand the vision of the expansion committee, and it is all very exciting. anyway, i'll let you know if i hear how it goes -- get excited!!

Oh I hope they both go well. And I hope theres at least one Western State involved in the mix. It's just great to hear that we have an opportunity to do a presentation. I get so frustrated and down when I see on the Rush forum threads all the schools that are expanding and Phi Sig wasn't one of the groups doing presentations.
