"Dumbledore" actor dead

Richard Harris, the actor who plays Dumbledore in Harry Potter, has died of lymphoma.:( The article said that the director used a stand-in for some of Harris' last scenes.

I'm sad because Harris had finally turned his life around (big druggie awhile back) and because he was the perfect Dumbledore. I wonder how they can ever find someone who can compare?

With all the media coverage, this is the first that I heard of his death. It is indeed sad, because he was such a perfect fit for the character. I wonder who could ever replace him and do such a wonderful job.

The only actor I can think of off the top of my head is Ian McKellan, but he's currently busy playing Gandolf in the LOTR trilogy!

That's exactly who I was thinking of, sigmagrrl. :)

Someone left the cake out in the rain.
I don't think that I can take it
Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again.

Rest in peace, Richard. Or party your butt off, whichever you prefer.

When I think of Richard Harris, I think of Camelot/King Arthur, not Dumbledore! LOL!

Exactly....for a while I thought it was the same actor (dumb, I know!)! With all that beard and makeup, they could pass for the same guy!

Here in England this was all over the headlines last weekend.

I didn't read most of the articles, but I do remember some columnist mentioning Sean Connery as a possible replacement.

Whatever is decided - it will have to be quick - the next movie starts shooting in March next year!

My mum told me about this over the weekend. I was sad to hear it. This guy was the perfect Prof Dumbledore--just like I imaged from reading the books.

Is he the one that was not going to take the role?

I think I saw on Enter. Tonight that his grandchildren convinced him to take the role.... lol... by saying they would not talk to him again. He apparently had NO CLUE about the Harry Potter Series!!!!!!!!!! :D

That's so sad...He was the PERFECT guy for the part! I wonder how they'll work that out with the rest of the series of movies!?

The acting is done for those movies. The second one comes out in a month, and all they have to do for the third one is the effects i believe, possibly some reshoots, but the majority of McKellans job is done. i think he'd be a good dumbledore.

Found this on aintitcoolnews.com today. If you can't have Gandalf would you take Saruman?
Keep in mind this is from London's Sun so it might not be true.

The only movies I've seen of him are HP, Gladiator and Count of Monte Cristo. Overall I loved his performances.
