God, this is morbid, but...
Is Mr. Rogers still alive? I've using the phrase "day in the neighborhood" preceded by an approiate adjective. I would feel bad if he's not still around. That would be a sad day in the neighborhood. :(
|
I'm pretty sure he's still around... He retired from the show not too long ago.
|
I think he died last year but I'm not totally sure.
|
:(
|
No... I was wrong. I guess he didn't die because I just read an article that says he gave the Dartmouth commencement address in June. Yay -- happy day in the neighborhood!
|
Just a few months ago I saw him and Bill Cosby accepting some type of award from G.W. Bush.

Fred Rogers is alive and kicking!! :D
|
I was gonna say! I'm pretty sure he is alive!
I used to LOVE watching his show! My favortie part was the trolly car that took us into that "neverland" where we got to see the characters of that kingdom deal with stuff! I don't remember most of their names but it was always cool! |
Fred Rogers is very much alive. He actually only recently "officially" retired. For a look at who is still kicking and who "kicked," go to DeadorAlive.com (I believe.) Cool site. Look it up under Dead or Alive, it is a celebrity site with all the info.

Haha, he's definately very much alive.
I saw him a few weeks ago walking down the street. WQED (the Pittsburgh PBS station) is a few blocks up the street from Pitt, and I pass it every day on my way home. That's the building where his offices are (were? since he's kinda retired) and where the show was filmed. Incidentally, the show used to be filmed in what is now the music building at Pitt. One of those useless bits of trivia I picked up by being a campus tourguide! :O) |
:) Yay. I want fish and to play make-believe again. That show was the best.

Pretty interesting guy.
If my memory is correct (always a question these days), he is an ordained Baptist minister and an ex-Marine. Wonder how many times he has changed shoes in his career. |
Yeah my proof that he's alive is the autographed show script that he sent to my parents for their celebrity auction. They were doing it to raise money for the high school band boosters (my brother's the band geek... but he did have his own hardcore rock band outside of being drum major in marching band LOL) Ah, well. I think Mr. Rogers is still pretty cool for an old guy... MAN I loved his show when I was little. I got made fun of for that the other day though... good thing I don't particularly care, eh? :)

I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe I am. Not only is Fred Rogers alive and an ordained minister but he is also a brother of Phi Mu Alpha, a professional music fraternity. We have some very nice PMAs on GC who might be able to verify this for me :D
