Sad news for Mu Lambda Chapter

Hi yall,

I just thought I would forward this to all of you. It was sent to our chapter earlier in the week. Please keep them in your prayers!

Ladies -

I wanted to let you all know of a very sad situation at Mu Lambda chapter.
The CA, Alison Presley, was pregnant with her first child due in November.
She had a medical emergency where the placenta tore away from the uterus.
The baby was without oxygen and she had internal bleeding. The baby
unfortunately died before it could be delivered and Alison underwent surgery
to repair the internal bleeding. She then experienced a blood clot that
moved to her brain and underwent brain surgery for that. She is currently
under heavy sedation and they're not sure what the outcome will be. They
fear she may have permanent damage from going without oxygen because of the
blood clot...but no one knows for sure.

I know this is horrible news to deliver over email, but I wanted to get the
word out. This all happened on Tuesday and I learned about it last night.
CDNS Terry is in contact with the other advisors and CB officers. The
chapter members are very upset, but we've suggested getting a counselor from
the university to assist. Right now it seems to be a waiting game to see how
she does. There are a lot of AOII's in the area there who are willing and
able to assist with anything...once we know what may be needed.

Since this AOII chapter is so new, I was thinking it would be nice if we
encouraged our other collegiate chapters to send them a note to let them
know we're all thinking of them. They're not in this alone, although I'm
sure they feel that way right now. If you could send a note and encourage
your chapters to do the same, I think it would really help the Mu Lambda
members to know that other AOII's are thinking of them during this rough
time.

If anyone has other ideas or suggestions in how to assist either Alison or
the chapter, please let me know. Please keep Alison in your prayers. I'll
keep you posted as we hear more.

I hope the chapters will be willing to send a note of encouragement to
the members of Mu Lambda. The address is

Thanks for posting this texasaopi.

I didn't know how public they wanted this when I posted in the prayer request forum. I will definitely be passing on everyone's well wishes. PM me if you want more information, adresses, etc.... Remember I can always print out this forum and give it to her and/or the chapter :)

That is sad. :( I hope all goes well with the recovery of the surgery, and know that she is in our hearts and prayers for that recovery and support that she needs.

A whole bunch of positive thoughts and my very best wishes go out to Alison, her family and all of our Mu Lambda sisters. I can't even begin to imagine what this must be like for them. I'm glad there are so many AOIIs there and ready to help however needed. I have faith that Alison will recover and hope that she is back home with her loved ones soon.

Please keep us posted as you hear anything!

The latest update that I have received is from Monday: she was able to walk with the aid of a therapist.

I got a new update today:

Alison is speaking more,
feeding herself, getting up To go to the
restroom ...so doing very well. She will probably be
transferred today or tomorrow to the rehab hospital.

Oh no.

I spent most of my CA training at LI with Alison. She was several weeks behind me in pregnancy and we were comparing stories.

She is such an incredibly sweet woman. I'm so sad that this has happened to her.

Brandi - please let us know how she is recovering. I just grabbed her address off of AlphaLink and will look for an appropriate card for her. (If you think this is a bad idea - please, please, please let me know what would be more appropriate - hsnow@Hotmail.com) And also let me know if it's appropriate for our chapter to send a card or something to the chapter.

I had lunch with AOIIAlum (Christin) yesterday and she told me. Somehow reading the words today makes it so much more real to me.

My thoughts and prayers are with Alison.

I know this is an old thread, but I was curious as to how she was doing....
