initiated as alumna
Just me again. Well, I am waiting for the president of the alumna chapter of Sigma Kappa to get back to me, I have a question.
For these of you that were initiated as alumna, was there anything that you had or could do to prepare for the initiation? Since I don't what is involved I don't know if I should be like memorizing anything form the national site (i.e., history, vision statement, the meaning of the symbols & insignia, Philanthropy, etc.) Anyone with suggestions? Stephanie:) |
I was initated in college so I'm not sure about alumna initiation but I don't think there is anything you need to do to prepare for the initiation. I don't know if there is any sort of "new member" orientation for alumna initiates but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Request a copy of the Promise book when you talk to the president. It has everything the new members learn about the sorority in it (a really good read and a resource!). Perhaps you could attend some of the new member meetings with the collegiate members to get to know some of the chapter members and learn new things at the same time, I'm sure they would love to have you :-) As for the actual initiation ceremony, it is beautiful and inspiring. Just pay attention to everything you see and hear. :) I'm excited for you to join our sisterhood! Please let us know when your initiation date is! |
So, the date that the initiation is scheduled for is Nov. 16th. It seems so close. I am starting to get a little nervous.I am being refered to the National Vice President for Alumnae, Marianne Burton. She will provide me with the necessary information and guide me throught this process of becoming an alumna intiate. She will be in contact with me, as well as other representatives of the collegiate chapter at Geneseo about any paperwork and a Promise book, our handbook for new members. So it begins. . .
