I recieved an email back about membership in Beta Sigma Phi :) I talked it over with anoter greek chatter... and shes interested too!!! We are going to try to find some other people interested... and see what happens!

Were being sent our Friendly Venture stuff this week!!!!

We had an informal meeting tonite... aka, me and the other girl trying to start Beta. We talked about lots of things... mainly membership and who we would like to see join. We have three now! We went and talked to our one friend and shes excited as well!!! :) Next we have one more who we think would be a definate and then five more we would like to ask!!!!!

Im so excited!

This week we get our FV packet! Is anyone able to tell me what all we need to do to start a chapter? (were very antsy!)

Your Friendly Venture packet will include membership applications. Each of your seven members will have to fill out an application and choose one of the payment plans. You don't submit these forms until you have your SEVEN members. Once the forms and payments are submitted, you will receive your chapter name and number, pledge pins, handbooks, and bracelets. I believe the next step is holding the pledge ceremony. It is my understanding that a current Beta will be assigned to you to help you through the ceremony and other aspects of starting a chapter. If I'm wrong about that, maybe someone else on the board can correct me.....

An update on Clarion!
 

Okay heres exciting news:

We are being mailed our FV packet this week! On Friday we are having an informal get together for women we invited that we think would make a good contribution and we just want to sit down and chat and get them interested in Beta. We invited EIGHTEEN women, and have had FOUR excited YESSSSSSSes and that would make our seven... and we've had a few women who were like "Wow, Im so honored that you thought of me for this!" who want to get to know more!!!!

IM SO EXCITED! And Im sure I speak for the lurking other two members of the Clarion interest group ;)

How exciting!!!
 

I am really excited for two reasons...
1. You are making amazing progress, and I really admire the way you just went out there and invited people. That's so great. Your chapter will be on its feet in no time!

2. My home is about 35 minutes from Clarion!!! For some reason, I didn't realize that was where you were from. I live in Massachusetts for now, but I'm always looking for excuses to go home! Maybe I could come visit my Beta sisters in Clarion someday.

I am so nervous about the meeting tonite!!! Im wondering how many women will show up!!! Im just nervous and excited all around! The most interesting thing is, for the first time in my life, I am completely organized in every aspect concerning something! I have every thing Ive jotted down about Beta, from my thoughts, to meeting topics, to membership and all of the emails back and forth with Amber! Why cant I be this organized with my TBS stuff or Phi Sig stuff?!!! Or school for that matter?!

random sidenote I may or may not have mentioned before:

I was enrolled to go to Clarion up until May of my senior year of high school, when I decided to stay in state and go to school here instead.

We could have all been there together! :)

We've had our ups and downs...

First of all... one of the invited women and I go to dinner in our student center and notice the part where we were goingt to meet was closed... and then I remember that yep, Friday its closed... crap...

We cant get our paphlets printed cos all the computer labs are closed...

We have two women show up... but a few had gone home for the weekend...

We now have SIX people!

We are going to ask the ones who were very interested to "join" us, and the others are going to get invited again to meet us and Beta...

So were still doing well! Our goal was to have the seven by the 18th!

I thank everyone on the Beta boards for all of their encouragement and excitement for us!!! :)

I emailed Amber tonite to let her know of our progress and such, and hopefully we will get our packet tomorrow... or sometime soon, so we can talk about it at our meeting on Friday! (our first FULL meeting with all seven (or more!) members!!!!!
