UGA Fraternities

Anyone know how the fraternities at University of Georgia are doing? Numbers wise. I know some things have changed in the last few years with some large chapters leaving campus. Rush numbers, chapter size, etc....Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

We hung out with some of the guys from our Georgia Southern chapter at our national convention... They say UGA's chapter is doing pretty well.. Sigma Nu that is. I don't know any specifics though.

Our Gerogia colony has jut initiated 39 men, which by SDSU standards is awesome.

Sigma Sage 10-25-2002 10:36 AM

Damn, that is good by any standards. It is about time Delta Sig came to Georgia. Good Luck.

I have heard that Chi Phi is doing quite well at UGA, as well as most school's in Georgia.

Sigma Sage 10-25-2002 10:46 AM

When did they come back?? Do they have a house? Last I heard they were gone, due to the "beating" incident, about 5 years ago.

hmmm...

I wish I could better answer your question Sigma Sage but I dont get to keep up with our southern chapters very much (which sucks because most of our chapters are in the south).

I did remember someone telling me that Chi Phi at UGA suffered severe punishments after some incident involving hazing.

However, I guess they were able to get out of it with some help from several very powerful alumni in Georgia (I think including a governer or two).

I could be totally wrong though, again, I have little contact with our southern chapters.

Some guys from my chapter (myself included) were making plans to actually go there (UGA) next weekend because we had heard so many things about them, but we decided to stay in the Big Ten and go to our Penn St. chapter instead.

Yeah, I would be interested to find out too. I had quite a few friends in the chapter. If I hear anything about them..I will let you know.

Pike got 21 at UGA.

Sigma Sage 10-25-2002 12:40 PM

Thanks....true Theta Chi has a chapter at UGA, actually about two house down from us. Good group of guys.

Sigma Sage

What are the stronger houses at UGA?

Sigma Sage 10-25-2002 01:11 PM

To be honest, and I would think other UGA greeks would agree, that for the most part most chapters are pretty good, and everyone gets along well. Just a couple chapters that need some extra work. I know things have changed a little. Sig Ep and Sigma Chi are back, two strong chapters. Overall, I have heard that things are pretty good...even though UGA admin. is not real fond of Greek Life.

I have heard UGA also has Delta Chi, now.

When I was there (mid to late 90's)....they ranked like this...IMO:

SAE
KA
Lambda Chi
Pike
Kappa Sig
Sigma Nu
Fiji
Chi Phi
Pi Kap Phi
Theta Chi
Sigma Pi
Beta
Chi Psi (gone, but came back in the last few months)
TKE
Phi Kappa Tau
TEP
AEPi
Phi Psi
Phi Kappa Theta(gone)
Delta Tau Delta (gone but are now back)

Might be missing a few.....anyway....

ksig600 10-25-2002 03:49 PM

UGA Kappa Sigs...

The last I heard, the Beta-Lambda Chapter of Kappa Sigma was doing very well with over 120 brothers, and doing consistently well in rush
