Recruitment Help

Hey everyone,

I need a huge favor from y'all. I just took over as recruitment chair for my chapter and I want to have an awesome recruitment this January. I know that this has been a thread every now and then but I know my chapter has to work on a couple of specific areas so this is where y'all come in. :)

* Does anyone have any good philathropy ideas?? We've made bracelets for kids in the hospital in years passed but I think we need a cuter idea.

* Was there anything that has worked for your chapter with regards to getting people to turn conversations to focus on what your sorority is about rather than who are you and where are you from. We have serious problems with not being able to direct conversations to recruitment and I cant think of what to do!!

*We're thinking of doing a Grease skit. Is there anyone who has any good ideas as to what we could add to that??

Thanks guys! :D

Philanthropy: Boo-boo bunnies are cute.....one year we had a garden-theme and did flower pots.

The best way to begin a conversation about your sorority I have found is simply to say: Let me tell you a little about (insert sorority topic here). With this method, you have to be careful not to make a speech, but kind of segue it into where questions could be asked. I always liked to show PNM's our photo album of National Headquarters (v.v. impressive!) and scrapbooks. I guess different rounds call for different methods.

Just a word of caution about the Grease skit...
sometimes the rushees get creeped out by the girls in the house playing boys' roles. We did a Grease skit for a couple of years and it bombed big time. This has also been the report from some other houses I've talked to. In fact, I think this may have been mentioned on this board before... try doing a search.

Good luck!

For the Grease skit- KD does it at my school and they are one of the top chapters in their org.
They don't have girls playing boys, though. The make it about Sandy going through rush (she is fighting on whether to drop out and they sing "Potential rush drop out" instead of beauty school drop out, They use the end song "We go together.." and some other stuff I can't remember) anyway, they have a sleep over and some of the girls talk to Sandy about how great it is to be a Green Lady (not pink cause we have Phi Mu at my school, too). What else do they do?!? Anyway, there are no boys in the skit... and everyone really likes it.

As for conversation- I will tell you what the newest members on here would probably be your best source. They can tell you what attracted them and what didnt while it is still fresh in their minds.

Our Grease skit was much the same. We served popcorn and Coke in the small bottles.

the alpha chi omega's do a grease skit each year and its super cute.. alot of singing.. "summer lovin'" is the song used in the beginning replacing the words with stuff having to do with going thru recruitment.. and end with the girl getting into the house (sing "you're the one that i want") and end with "we go together"

it can be super cute if you do it right

also: no boys or girls playing boys in the skit

refreshments: rootbeer floats!
