Country songs for serenade
Okay, a group of us are going to serenade girls' dates a few days before barndance. Seeing as how I don't listen to country music, I need a song suggestion. It is pretty informal, just something silly. Thanks!

Country Songs
I think old country would be best- songs that you have more than likely heard at one point in your life whether you listen to country or not-
Alabama- Song of the South (classic kinda silly southern song about a person during the depression- but the chorus is cool) Alabama- Mountain Music (just as the title say) Anything Kenny Rodgers- sings the song "you gotta know when to hold them- know when to fold them" I can't think of the title but those are song lyrics of the chorus- I know you have heard it Garth Brooks- he has both silly and serious songs- look at a greatest hits album:) He has lots (I don't usually like country but I love Garth) Randy Travis- Forever and Ever Charlie Daniels- Devil went down to Georgia Ray Stevens- The day the squirrel went bazerk (This song is HILARIOUS) Those are all I can think of for now- these are songs of my childhood some of which I think everyone knows. I don't know how appropriate they are for what you are looking for but it is a start:) |
The Best Song
"Almost Persuaded" is the all-time best country song for guys to sing in a group. You can sway all over the words and be as melodramatic as you want. Can't tell you who sang it; it was a huge hit 30+ years ago, but it should somewhere on the internet. Trust me: this is the BEST fraternity-guys song if you're singing country.

David Allan Coe - "You DOn't have to call me Darlin', Darlin'"
The BEST country and western song ever written ;) |
"Cowboy, Take Me Away"

Suzymoonspider, I think the song (Kenny Rogers) is called "The Gambler." It's a cool song! :)

Try Garth Brooks' Friends in Low Places
Try Garth Brooks' Friends in Low Places
It goes: Blame it all on my roots I showed up in boots And ruined your black tie affair The last one to know The last one to show I was the last one You thought you'd see there And I saw the surprise And the fear in his eyes When I took his glass of champagne And I toasted you Said, honey, we may be through But you'll never hear me complain 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places Well, I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before Everything's all right I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door Hey, I didn't mean To cause a big scene Just give me an hour and then Well, I'll be as high As that ivory tower That you're livin' in 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places [3rd Verse:] I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before And everything is alright I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door I didn't mean to cause a big scene Just wait 'til I finish this glass Then sweet little lady I'll head back to the bar And you can kiss my ass |

Tim McGraw... Indian Outlaw!
Kenny Chesney... How Forever Feels |
I don't listen to country, but I have to say I looooove the song "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation." I think that would be a good one to sing to a date because it's kind of fun and silly.

Gary Stewart - She's Acting Single (and I'm Drinking Doubles)
Fun song! :p But I have to say "You Don't have to call me Darlin', Darlin" is a lot cuter ;) |
"You got the money, honey, I got the time" would be a little too tacky...!
