Has anyone heard about this ???..what a Jerk

Just read an article about Geraldo Rivera's stupid
a** posing for pictures in one of the cities that the sniper had struck. He had done a segment about the killer and later on had some fun..

what a prick

I don't see what it had to do with him reporting what was going on. Sure.. if he were on camera signing Hooters girls while talking about the sniper that would be one thing. What he does when he's off camera has nothing to do with the story he's reporting.

I think this is different from Connie Chung coming to Oklahoma City after the bombing and commenting on what a dump the place was essentially.

sororitygirl2 10-15-2002 11:22 AM

Yeah, I don't see how it's bad... it's a part of his job as a public figure.

Sure, Geraldo is stupid, but he is a star. Stars sign autographs... people would complain and call him a prick if refused to sign them too.

Munchkin03 10-15-2002 12:20 PM

I don't see what's so offensive about it, either. Let's say a surgeon wants to go out after work and have some drinks and drinks a little too much...is he a prick, too?

Good point! I mean, most men in his situation would be doing the same thing. Hooters chicks want you to sign their booty? Please, you are not thinking about a news story or TV camera, you are all up in the hiney.

Okay, so he is arrogant and horny. He's a man.

Welcome to the world of journalism!

DeltAlum 10-15-2002 12:43 PM

I agree with Delta Sig on this one.

This kind of activity on the part of an alleged "serious" journalist at the scene of a tragedy of this dimension is unprofessional, uncaring, disrespectful to the victim and family and totally misguided.

Can you imagine Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer, Peter Jennings or Dan Rather doing this kind of thing?

I think we have a clash between ego and professionalism here.

But, then again, it is FOX isn't it?

sororitygirl2 10-15-2002 12:53 PM

Come on though, Geraldo is not a "serious" journalist! :)

Steeltrap 10-15-2002 12:53 PM

"Gerry Riviera"

I have never taken ol' Jerry very seriously, so I'm not surprised at this. The guy has always blurred the line between "serious" TV journalism and entertainment, as it were.

BTW, the title of the post refers to how he appeared in the University of Arizona's yearbook.

I think Brokaw would do it. He's a jerk.

Yeah Fox is like the half@$$ network. I hate their news, sports, shows. The only saving graces are the simpson and tose hot chicks on that 70's show.

DeltAlum 10-15-2002 06:09 PM

Actually, Brokaw is one of the brightest guys I've ever met. Nice person and very unassuming.

I would let Matt Lauer sign my butt. ;) :p Stone Phillips, too. They each get a cheek! ;)
