If Title IX is retracted... (GLOs, not Athletics)

From a discussion of things that the current congress/administration could change...

If a law is passed getting rid of Title IX, how is it likely to affect Greek Life? Are there any Professional Fraternities or Honor Societies like to become single gender again and/or split back into a men's group and women's group that merged?

I only know of *one* Regional Social Fraternity that might not call itself that any more, Alpha Delta, as the remaining few all-male chapters of Alpha Phi Omega split off into a social fraternity. Maybe they might consider themselves a Service Fraternity if they could be an all-male one.

Any other effects to Greek Life?

I *know* it would affect University Athletics far more, but that would go in General Chat...

What?

If anything it seems like they are doubling down on Title IX.

In what way? Yes, recent court decisions have included trans athletes under Title IX, but the effects that were seen when they passed it (making sure funding was equal, which led to the great growth of women's basketball and other women's sports and the forcing of Professional and Honorary GLOs to admit both men and women) seem to be at risk.

One might speculate that single sex organizations may find themselves less free to accept individuals who are not of that sex.

I'd imagine on some campuses, some of our chapters would elect to shut down rather than continue operating in that manner.

Others will continue to operate much as they have for the previous 150 years.
