The Society at SMU - Done?
 

No social media updates since June, some of the “sisters” who joined rushed this autumn and seem to have joined other houses, most of the bad apples have graduated or moved on from campus, and no activity has been seen in months. As an SMU Theta alumna, I wonder if this is finally the end for them.

I truly hope so. Ironically, it wasn’t even the ex members of the chapter forming this, it was the mothers. I want Theta to be able to come back to campus eventually (and the current time table is 2026.)

I did hear they had bought a mansion to rent but I doubt it was true.

I had heard that some Theta Society members were going to rush but I wondered if the other groups would even consider them.

ΚΚΓ took one member this past fall. Shocking to me though.

I guess they realized that they'd rather be in an actual NPC group than an unsanctioned one. Plus (and I suppose the university did this in an attempt to get Theta back on sooner.) students would face sanctions if they were a member of the society.

I hope that this news is true!
Hope that Theta will be able to return to SMU in good time.

We continue to have no social media updates and the girls who led the society have graduated this year. One can only hope that Theta will return to campus ASAP.

Some people said that anyone who joined the Theta Society wouldn't be accepted into an NPC group if they decided to rush NPC, but I guess that's not true.

I know that Theta's house is currently being leased as an upscale dorm.

If the plan is to try and re-establish the chapter in 2026, then the 2025-2026 school year would be the last year the house will be leased?

Has it been 4 years since the suspension? Don’t schools and Headquarters want every former member to have graduated?

The original suspension was only for 2 years (handed down in 2022) but with the society situation they extended it to this year.
