Joining Graduate Chapter

Hello,
If I joined a sorority in Undergrad, Can I join a different graduate chapter?
(For example, If I pledged Sigma Kappa Undergrad, can I pledge Aka in grad school?)

We've been told that the NPHC groups don't pledge people who joined an NPC group and vice versa.

The standard answer here is "We've been told..." *AND* contact the sorority's National Office for an official answer.

Hi Jojo,

You asked us this exact same question a couple of times this past December 2021. The answers haven't changed.

If I renounced my PHA membership can I join AKAs in
NPHC? I tried to rush ph but they weren't on my
campus so I rushed a PHA and now the nphc is back on
my campus. Can I join that org? I am a legacy. Is it up to
the chapter if they want to take me?

I have a question. If someone was a member of Sigma Kappa, and they renounced their letters, terminating their membership, could they become a member of the AKA organization if they are a legacy? I have heard many things such as it is up to the chapter and that their should be a good reason why.

LOL...I'm a firefighter with law enforcement responsibilities. Sometimes the investigator side of me comes out.

What's weird is this -- in the previous thread you said:

hi it wasnt asked multiple times for a different answer. I am new to the site and wasnt sure how to work some of the forums. Thank you for you input. Please leave disrespect at the door.

That was 12/6/21. It's now over four months later and she's posting the question again. She's not "new" here anymore; so, her previous explanation no longer holds.

Hi,
Thank you for answering the question. However, I believe I asked a different question because this one is about pledging at the graduate level. Thank you for the explanation. Sorry if I bothered you.

hi, I asked about the undergrad level, not the graduate level. Thank you for the response! V Helpful

You're welcome. As we explained before, your best course of action is to contact the national headquarters of Alpha Kappa Alpha directly to see if your circumstances are within their membership guidelines. They will be best placed to assist you. Best wishes.

I guess I'm going to be the one to ask.

Why?

Why?

I have a friend who would like to join a different org during grad school. shes wondering if what she pledged during undergrad matters.

Same question.

Why?

Is there no loyalty or connection to the organization for which she already belongs?

FSUZeta 04-21-2022 08:20 AM

When your friend was initiated into Sigma Kappa, she most likely pledge her loyalty for life. Her membership is exclusive and for a lifetime. She can not join another organization. So it doesn't matter if you or your friend want to switch streams as an undergraduate or a graduate student-you nor she can do so.

My mom joined a club where they all wore red hats. That might be an option.
