Chad Gebhardt, chief administrative officer of Kappa Sigma Fraternity international headquarters, confirmed the expulsion in an e-mail with the Marquette Wire.

The expulsion comes after a result of “severe financial delinquency” of $21,810, contumacious conduct and violation of the fraternity’s constitution, rules and by-laws.

May I live long enough to have someone describe my behaviour as "contumacious". Best synonym I can find is "Willfully disobedient"

My only question is how long would a housed fraternity chapter have to be in arrears with moneys to National to reach $21K?

Looks like Contumacious is part of the phrasing in the Kappa Sigma National Bylaws as part of one of the 10 reasons that the Supreme Executive Committee (which appears to be the name for the National Board) may take actions against a chapter. Similarly it appears to be in boilerplate chapter bylaws whereby a chapter can remove a brother.
