AKA Semester GPA Question
I know AKA has a prior semester gpa requirement, but I fell a little short so I took a winter class and received an A, will that go towards my previous term semester gpa or no? My overall gpa is well over a 2.5 I just had a hard time adjusting to all online courses. Thank you for any help/responses

Hey there. So if your overall is over 2.5 and that class that bumped up the gpa shows on the transcript as the past semester you might be alright. The only issue would be if you are at a new school because I know they normally want a required GPA at the current institution with one semester done as well at full time. Every chapter varies, I would reach out directly to confirm though! HTH

Regardless, this is the worst possible information and anyone reading it is advised to IGNORE IT. The OP is asking about NPHC recruitment and naraht gave the best possible answer. We non-NPHC members stay in our own lanes. If you delete your post, I'll delete this. You've got a little time left to do so. I'll check back tonight to see if yours disappeared. |

I am basing my advice on my school's process for NPHC and more specifically Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I did not assume it was NPC, but you assumed that I did. My advice was in line with Naraht in that she should contact the organization because it varies, how is this the worst possible advice? Either way, best of luck OP. |
Oh ... and this:
"Requirements Matriculation as a full-time undergraduate student where the campus chapter is located; or matriculation as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited school affiliated with an undergraduate city chapter in the community; Must have creditably completed* at least one grading period (or as defined by the college or university) as a full-time student at the institution affiliated with the chapter, immediately preceding submission of application; *creditably completed is synonymous to earned full-time hours (12+ hours) for Spring or Fall session, whichever is applicable A cumulative and semester average of C+, immediately preceding submission of application. (In those universities using pass-fail, required competency or good standing systems of grading, either shall be acceptable.) C+ is equivalent to a 2.50 on a 4.0 scale if the school does not have a plus or minus on the grading scale, Some chapters and/or schools may require a higher semester and/or cumulative average for undergraduate membership eligibility; Attendance at the official Rush." |

There was a reported post here. I would suggest that unless a poster is a member of an NPHC organization, trying to tell someone who appears to possibly be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. what content is and isn't appropriate is problematic.
If the member does her own investigation and discovers her posts are problematic, I'll be happy to assist her in removing them. I would also respond to a request from someone with some authority from Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. to remove the content as a courtesy. In my 20+ years on GC, I've never seen an NPHC member do anything other than refer questions to local chapters or the national office, but if that is not the case, I would trust Goingmad97, if you're a member of AKA, Inc., you'd know better than myself. Welcome Goingmad97, we're glad to have you here. |

"assuming facts not in evidence", Kevin. You as an attorney should be familiar with that statement. Sigh. "Reporting a post": my eyes are rolling so far back in my head I can see yesterday. |
When an NPC person tries to enforce NPHC norms, and a post is reported, what do you want from me? I'm *definitely* not the NPHC police here. You've put me in an indefensible situation. You're wanting me to sign off on an NPC person applying what they think are NPHC standards to an apparent NPHC person's posts???
I've requested help in this area and no one has responded. I am very happy to defer to any NPHC person who wants to comment and I will probably do whatever they ask as a courtesy, but people are asking me to decide what is okay and not for NPHC members to post about membership selection? I'd hope you'd appreciate how far out of my lane that is. |

There are AKA's on this chat board but they don't frequent often. Best to you. NP |
Your best resource for membership information is, and will always be, www.aka1908.com. Best of luck to you!
