So far I give it 3 :D :D :D I love the new Jill Scott song Easy Conversation and Badu is doing her thang!!! They even got M J Blige doing a song. Check it out!!! To listen, click on Eryka's picture and you should see the link |
What'cha got them others don't....
The Mary song played during the trailer "Never Been" can be found on her latest CD. That was one of my most favorite songs on there. I hope it is released as a single.

CT4,
Thanks for posting the link to this. :D I cannot WAIT for Friday to come so I can see this movie. Sanaa Lathan has become one of my favorite actresses. |
YES!!!! Friday I am so there!!!
Front and center...say I'm Not :-D |
The movie was pretty good...I just got back a few hours ago. Besides Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs...the cast was not the usual group of folks we see...which was refreshing. It wasn't that original...I mean you get the whole plot from the previews...nothin new. It was like Love and Basketball...Love Jones, and the Best Man all roled into one...it was worth my money...I'd buy it when it comes out on video...I liked Barbershop better though!

I loved this movie! It started off a little slow, but when it picked up, I was so into it.
As far as comparison to Love and Basketball, I think this movie was more mature. It went deeper. Also, the restaurant scene was HILARIOUS!!!! Don't wanna ruin it for anyone! ;) And I think it was very well-acted. Mos Def did and especially good job, he is really coming into his own as an actor. btw, we got previews for a new movie called DRUMLINE all about a fictional HBCU in Atlanta. From the previews it features subplots about BGLOs, the band (hazing), and football classics. It looks REALLY good. Also, preview for Denzel's directorial debut, Antwon Fisher. It looks good too, I will probably have to check both of those out. Last but not least, preview for 8 MILE! CAN'T WAIT! :D |
The RESTAURANT SCENE was hiiiiiilarious.
This was a good azzzzzzzzz movie except for the 3 HOODRAT BINCHES 2 rows behind me who kept talking. I tried to listen to my soundtrack after I left and it would not play in the car.  I loved the use of hip hop as an extended metaphor throughout the movie. Sanaa and Taye Diggs have such a good chemistry. I am also looking forward to Drumline, Deliverance from Eva, and Antwone :D Fisher. BORIS WAS FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE in that movie. Ya hear me??? He melted the butter on my popcorn fine!!! Those Hip Hop Dalmatians were HILARIOUS as well. How are you not going to be able to spell your own name?  |
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy
I too was very pleased with the movie. I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again. I thought I had it all figured out from the previews but it was deeper than I expected.
I can't wait to see the other black movies they showed during the previews. I'm so happy that "we" are making movies with more depth and focusing on the positive aspects of the black experience. I was in awe throughout the preview of Drumline. I attend a predominantly white university and I feel like I've missed out on the black college experience. If I could do it all over I would be at somebody's HBCU. |

CT4 I had the SAME problem!! I had to listen to it on my home stereo. Do you know what? If you look at the back of the CD cover, there's a message saying that it's "copy protected" and that it only plays in standard CD players, etc. I didn't understand that b/c what is so different about a car cd player? Anyway, I listened to the cd all the way through at home and I took that thing back b/c I was mad I couldn't play it in the car. I mean, if I can't play it in the car, what's the point? I took it back and they ALMOST didn't want to take it back (b/c it was opened) even though I pointed out the message on the back. Needless to say, I got my money back :) But what's up w/ that though? Has anyone else had problems playing it in their car? |
