Miss USA 2019

Didn’t realize the Miss USA pageant was last night (I was watching Game of Thrones). Any sorority alumnae among the contestants?

Didn't watch it but just found out that she is African-American and it's the first time Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Teen have all been African American at the same time.

Miss Florida and Miss California are UF ZTAs. Neither made the final 5.

Miss Idaho and Miss Nevada are Alpha Gam's. Miss Nevada made the top 5.

Miss Indiana USA, Tate Fritchley, is a Kappa Alpha Theta from Butler University. She was awarded Miss Congeniality.

That just makes my heart so happy! I shall send this to my daughter so she can roll her eyes and at me and my Theta craziness and then promptly snap it to some of her sisters. :)

State competitions will soon begin for Miss America 2020 and I will post the list of sorority women who win state titles.

Does anyone else read her name (in your head) as Fran-b-que?

carnation 05-09-2019 07:26 AM

No, especially not the poster above you who is indeed Fran.

As a member of the I heart Fran club, it will be very hard to get that thought out of my mind.

Thanks, honeychile. My husband's sister is a Pi Phi and I initiated her before I ever met him. When she told me how her name was spelled, I said, "Well, that's a ridiculous way to spell beck." I know I said ridiculous rather than interesting or unique. Six months later I met her brother and the rest is history, including spelling the name before pronouncing it.

Those who know me, know that I have no problem laughing at myself. Friends who have made the B-que comment know that it usually gets a laugh from me.
