pin attire question
I am attending a Young Republicans' meeting tonight. We meet in a private room at a nice restaraunt that has a liquor liscense. Everyone there knows that I do not drink at these meetings because I have a long drive home and don't like to take chances. However, there are always one or two members who order a drink or a beer.
I am currently at work, wearing a suit, and wearing my Quill. I will go straight from work to the meeting. My question is this: Is it appropriate for me to wear my Quill at the meeting tonight, or should I take it off before going in the restaraunt? |
Most organizations say not to wear letters or a badge where alcohol is served because you aren't supposed to be representing your sorority stupid and out-of-control drunk.
However, i know many alums. and girls who will have a glass of wine in their badge and it has not been looked down upon. After all, it's not really against most groups' founding values to enjoy a drink... it just is against the values to be a drunken fool. I say wear it! It will show all the other Young Republicans that you are a chapter with intelligent, active young women who care about more than just going to sorority functions. |
I believe our rule is that COLLEGIATES cannot wear their pin anywhere alcohol can be served. If you are an alumnae, use your discretion. For example, we all wear our pins to the Panhellenic Auction for scholarships, where alcohol is served, because it's a fancy occasion. But I wouldn't just wear it out for a night of bar-hopping.

Thank you!
I want to thank all of the people who responded either by PM or on the thread. Your advice was very helpful, and gave me good guidelines on future events I may want to attend.
