150th Anniversary

We had the 150th Anniversary celebration at OKC last night. Pretty amazing. We had about 265 alumni and guests in attendance. Tons of Delta Epsilon and Epsilon Epsilon members and alums. Also a pretty good contingent from Mu Tau and Zeta Lambda.

There was a ~15 minute Ken Burns-esque history video with extremely high production value which I appreciated. The Regent was present and made some remarks. The theme was that these are the best of times and the worst of times. While our numbers are outstanding at the moment with ~170 active chapters and average membership of 72 per chapter, with about 11,000 active collegians, we are facing some existential threats. It looks like they've circled this Yale lawsuit as a real threat. I'll drill down into that subject more. I didn't take it all that seriously before.

If someone finds that history video, post a link. It was outstanding.

Congratulations! Sounds like a memorable celebration!

I'm looking forward to hearing more detail and thoughts on the Yale situation.

Congratulation on 150 years and here's to another 150 years.

I'm more and more concerned about the Yale situation. The lawsuit seems to be nonsense, or at least the proposed remedy seems to be nonsense. What I think the danger is from this lawsuit is that the plaintiffs receive ANY remedy. Any progress towards having courts open to stepping in and micromanaging collegiate social scenes in the name of stamping out hostile environments ratchets forward--and then the proposed remedy doesn't seem as big a leap in the next lawsuit.

This could lead to the demise of the Greek system, which is what these people ultimately want.

We should have realized people at Yale are smarter than we gave them credit for. :o So, the concern is for precedence setting. Have you seen the suit? What are they asking for?
