What a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Is there an update to the story posted? This says that the fraternity has been suspended and an investigation is ongoing, but the chapter is not closed.

You are right, I was mistaken. At IU, suspension was always equal to closure of the chapter for a period of time, usually over 4 years. The exception was deferred suspension, where chapters were one mistake away from closure. I was unaware that a cease and desist was referred to by suspension at other schools. I missed that upon my first reading of the article and apologize for spreading misinformation.

Sad that all they have been charged with is misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to a minor and having a party where alcohol was served to minors. I realize that it is unlikely that anything more serious could be proven. :(
