Centennial/Founder's Day
 

Hi ladies!

My chapter is discussing campus-specific ways for our chapter to celebrate our Centennial Founder's Day. We have already planned our gift to the University and also have planned to hold our formal (which is normally in the Spring) in the Fall this year and name it our Founder's Ball. Our chapter is part of a unique situation in that while we are all celebrating our Cenennial, this year also marks not only our University's Greek System's 35th anniversary, it is also our chapter's 35th. We were the first sorority on campus!!! What are some other chapters doing for Centennial Founder's Day? Any innovative ideas?

St. Mary's has gotten a proclamation from the mayor naming Oct. 24th as Delta Zeta Day. They are working on getting the University President to do the same and their State Rep is getting them the flag that will be flying over the State Capital on the 24th.

SWT had a banner made with the Centennial logo that is hanging in the Student Center.

If ya'll had thought about it ahead of time, you could have earmarked some of the proceeds from Run to the Chicken for a Panhellenic scholarship. That would have been a nice commemorative for all of the anniversaries. Ya'll are a great chapter. I'm sure you will think of something wonderful. I think the mayor's proclamation is a great idea.

We're having a sit-down dinner at one of the hotels downtown to celebrate Founder's Day, but that's all that I know of. I wish we were making a bigger deal out of it, just because it's DZ's centennial year!

oh, I forgot to mention. St. Mary's is having a Founder's Day luncheon with the San Antonio alums and SWT is having it with Austin! SWT Homecoming is the same weekend so its busy, busy.

The Iota Iota chapter has contacted and invited our 300 alum to our Centennial Banquet. It's badge attire. We also made these awesome long sleeve shirts with our founders on it and we plan on wearing them on campus the day before. On the 24th we will (of course) be wearing badge attire with our pink and green ribbons underneath. We have donated our gift of two framed watercolors to our newly rennovated student center and plan on dedicating the plaque on or around that day. So far, thats all we have!
