Parent's Club
Hi sisters! A few years ago, my chapter started a Parent's Club to fundraise and get our parents involved in our chapter. It ended up falling apart, but now I'm interested in starting it up again. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do that? Also, does anyone have any ideas that I could add to the club? Thank you!!!

Our chapter has a spaghetti or a potluck dinner for our parents in April. They are sent invitations that they are invited to meet the lovely ladies of Sigma Kappa. Our VP of Alum usullay runs the show. First we have the welcome by the president. Then we eat. After we eat the VP of Alum usually tells some history about Sigma Kappa (so that our parents know something about our organization). They are also given a paper about our themes for rush parties. On that paper it has things that we are still needing for rush. Then they are asked to sign up if they want to be contacted for rush supplies. If they don't want to sign up they don't have too, but usually all the parents do sign up. The parents also select what they can contribute for rush. You can also use the parents club for things that you might need for your house, office, or suite. Even for rush some parents (moms) help us for pref night. Some moms might even cook dinner for us at their house maybe a few weeks before rush (more bonding time). But the parents club at our chapter has been a success. Hope that helps.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Wow, sounds cool. It's neat reading about what other chapters do because there is a lot of it that my old chapter didn't EVER do. Anyone else have a Paren'ts Club type deal at their campus>?

We do, but I think it's more monetary and time donations than physical things. We raised enough money recently to buy our chapter new couches for our TV room, and we used money entirely from the parents club fund.
In the spring, during mom's weekend, we ask moms or alums to make baskets for our silent auction, and we usually raise a lot of money from that. A lot of parents also come back during work week and help out, both inside the house and out. (btw, the couches are great, but then again, they are from Ikea!) |
