For future references I think it is very necessary to include this in our chapter bylaws.

I would look at it from the point of view of, if you were a boss and you had a troublesome employee....
I don't think you can terminate someone's membership based on just one thing, rather it would have to be a consistent demonstrated pattern demonstrated a lack of commitment, interest or respect for the organization. Also, I don't know how bad it has to be, before it is deemed "bad enough"...but here are a few things I would consider as "strikes"...it is up to your group to decide how much before you have reached your limit or threshhold.


Probably a combination of any of the following:
-Person is disruptive, direspectful, rude, ornery, pretty much all the time
-Person is consistentely very late to meetings, or does not show up at all and does not have a valid excuse (class or exams)
-Person threatens another member with physical or psychological harm
-Person willfully damages fraternity property or another member's property
-Stealing from another member
-Disclosing fraternity secrets or what is considered to be priviledged information in meetings.
-Person behaves in a manner which is harmful to the reputation of the group, while wearing merchandise which identifies them as a member of that group.

If you are looking to boot someone, I would definitely make sure that any and all incidents are documented carefully, with dates and approximate of when they happened, etc.

be careful about hearsay and rumors when considering someone for expulsion.

in the past, our group has kicked out sisters that have repeatedly broken trust among sisters, acted inappropriately, didn't fulfill semester duties, or just caused a lot of unnecessary drama.

we have written in our constitution that if another sister feels that another sister is not upholding the sorority's values, she can in turn write a letter to exec stating why and giving valid points. the sister at large can in turn rebutt the letter or leave on her own terms. the house discusses it and votes. the large discussion allows other sisters of the house to say anything they want in case they were afraid to step forward in the first place.

I think really the only thing anyone can get kicked out for that is TRUELY objective is owing money and making no effort to pay it, or grades. If it is for other reasons they are having trouble w/ the chapter our Judical board puts them on a program after conferring with them to try and fix the problem and they get three chances, after that they are disaffiliated.

Overt disrespect.

I'm assuming you're talking about dropping the black ball. If a pledge forced himself on a girl or was caught using racial/ethnical slurs.
