Alumni Associations

Gentlemen: I had a meeting earlier this week with a Greek advisor from a major midwestern university and he told me something that really surprised me.

He indicated that many chapters at his school have NO alumni involvement, let alone have any sort of association activity.

Since I'm involved with both Illinois State (my alma mater) & Northwestern (a lot closer to home than alma mater), I'm amazed.

This leads me to wonder: how many chapters have active alumni associations/housing corps./etc.? I know members of the GHZ are aware of this trend and would like to see more alumni involvement at the local level.

What type of help do you want from your alums? Association, Housing Corp., Alumni Advisory Board? Let me know your thoughts, guys - thanks for your time.

Yours in ZAX,
Bill Foltz

We have a three body alumni association, each acting with different responsibilities of the other.

The Alumni Advisory Board is alums who asvide the undergrad officers. Has been active since about 96-97.

The San Antonio Alumni Association coordinates social activities for the alumni in the area. Was recently created - 2000/2001

The Phi Upsilon Zeta Housing Corp of Lambda Chi Alpha has been in existance since 1986. It was just re-chartered in April of this year with a new name and new officers.

I was amaized when Marty Smith told me that nationaly there were only about 100-150 alumni that were really involved in the org withtheir chapters. I feel very fortunate for the zeta I advise that we have about 5 really involved alums and about 3 sort of invloved alums. These guys are goign to get much closer to their goal of a GHA Award with strong alumni support. Its absolutely critical...provides that continuity.
