ZTA at UNT!
 

Greetings!

Sorry for crashing your boards, but I read an article in our NT Daily paper today (from the University of North Texas) and thought you might want to know the great things ZTA is doing here at our school. I have not yet had the chance to meet any ZTA's on this campus, however, I hope to meet some at their "Think Pink" event next Monday. I am really impressed to see GLO's on my new campus doing such great things for other people! :)

Sorority helps promote awareness

Every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority is doing its part to promote awareness of the disease that takes millions of lives each year.

The sorority began to focus on breast cancer research education in 1992.

According to Lindsay Olexy, Plano junior, some of the members of have been impacted by breast cancer personally.

She said that may be one of the reasons why members are interested in the issue.

The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority is involved with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The organization sponsors its annual golf tournament,the Crown Classic, last Saturday.

Olexy, the sorority's service chairwoman, said the organization raised an estimated $8,000, possibly breaking last year's record of $7,000. The sorority will be involved in Race for the Cure Oct. 12 in Dallas.

Zeta Tau Alpha president Amanda Langley said that the sorority only does one fundraiser for breast cancer a semester.

They do even more community service projects by distributing information and becoming involved with other organizations to fight breast cancer.

"It doesn't matter how young you are you could be affected by breast cancer or someone you know may be affected by it," Langley, Richardson senior, said.

"It's important that you get educated about the disease."

Zeta Tau Alpha members will conduct a "Think Pink" campaign from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, Monday, east of the University Union.

Members will pass out pink ribbons and information for students to read about breast cancer.

The pink ribbon symbolizes unity in the fight against breast cancer.

We are wrapping up our Think Pink campaign today. It went really well!

Hi, I am currently in my second year as a Zeta at UNT...and I am stoked about the Think Pink Day. Yes it's a long day outside, espcially when it's hot, but I seriously think that this is something that should go on, since it is a wonderful way for women to learn how to identify signs of breast cancer. I hope to see you out there! <><

The girls from Gamma Phi (UNT), Zeta Sigma (UTA) & Gamma Psi (TCU) all looked awesome at the Race in Dallas on Saturday!! It was a thrill to see you there!!
