Mob of Kids Beat Man to Death--Milwaukee, Wis.

To say that this is tragic would be an understatement. I hope this story generates some discussion.

All I can say is this is really sick. This reminds me of another case in Ft. Wayne, In. A older school teacher saw a husband beating his wife at a four way stop. He stoped to help the lady. But the husband killed the teacher and the wife. You really can not say or do anything in self defense any more. I can understand that the victim was up set. And punching out his tooth is wrong. But even worse he paid for this with his life.

SAD

I saw the story on the news this evening: Something has to give, because too many of these incedents have gone on.

Where were these children's parents? What type of control did they have? It is evident not much, since these kids were out on the streets like they were. Now a man is dead over their foolishness!!!

Maybe it's just the way that I was raised. But I could've never just walked out of my parents home in the middle of the night; nor, hung out in the wee hours like these kids did. It was reported that they had bats and pipes. They then stole his belongings. That's crazy.

I have absolutely no sympathy for any of them: Each deserves the maximum punishment within the legal perimeters.

I feel you on this. There is no way I would be caught outside after the street lights came on. Back in the day, not only did our parents have complete responsibility for us, but the neighborhood did as well. Other parents would discipline us just as much as our own parents. Our street was like one big family. So, if we were seen doing something by another parent, you best believe we (the kids) would be in some serious trouble. Of course, life is no longer like this. You see people turning their heads now, and allowing kids to get away with any and everything. These kids obviously had no type of discipline or supervision. I don't feel sorry for them either. They knew what they were doing when they beat that man like that.

Kissy I agree with you 100% . When I was younger, all of the kids on my street knew that if one of us did something not only would we get a whupped by our parents but also the parents that caught us being bad.

I too do not feel bad for their parents. Why were these kids out so late? Even at the age of 20, I still do not stay out late if I have classes the next day. Besides the kids being held responsible, I feel that the parents should hold responsibility for what has occurred.

What is happening to today's children?

Okay, I just finished reading the article provided at the beginning of this post. Please correct me if I get out of line with what I'm about to write.

These kids did'nt just get this way over night. Where I'm from, you could'nt just jump into someone's face; or, walk up to them talking about "What you're gonna do". That is exactly how people get thrown in ditches.

My question is this: Why would a grown man run from a child? Big deal if he is as tall as you; Knock his ass out!!! From the stories reported, someone came to the residence where he was and threw an egg at him. Now, I would ponder how I would respond in that scenario, because I really believe that one reaps what they have sown. But, if you come to my house talking about what you're gonna do to me. You're gonna have to be like Mystikal and " 'Show me what you're working with' ". Do you really think I'm gonna listen to a person while they run off at the mouth? At my house? No!!! I would've knocked more than this kid's teeth out.

Legally an individual has a right to defend themselves using reasonable force. These kids need some counseling, as well as being held accountable for their actions -that mess can't fly. You can't get mad at somebody, when they get the best of you after you've hit them. Some people will get enough of that, their family will find their body somewhere stinking.

The man wasn't running from just one child. If you're faced with a group of kids, who have bats, shovels, and other weapons in their hands, you would run too. It all started, because he knocked one kid's tooth out for throwing the egg, but he was confronted by a group of kids after the egg-throwing incident.

These kids were not acting in self-defense. They brutally beat and killed a man in an act of revenge (not self defense), and they should be punished to the full extent of the law. Self-defense cannot be used, if the boy who was hit retaliates with a whole group of kids, with weapons. I would have understood more, if the ONE kid hit the guy with their fists a few times. It wouldn't have made the situation right, but then, I would say, "okay, maybe he needs some counseling". The kid who got hit would have then, had a strong case of self-defense. However, those kids MURDERED a man, and that's the bottom line.

I don't mean to intrude on your forum, but I live in Milwaukee and so have been seeing the news coverage on this every day.

This whole incident is sickening. But what bothers me most, are these childrens parents, now coming onto the news and saying "our boys did nothing wrong, the man deserved what he got".

  WTF????

An eye for an eye is one thing, but how can you DARE defend your child in a situation like this for saying they had the RIGHT to beat this guy to death??

With parents like that, it's no wonder the kids are sickos....

Preparing for the next phase

I agree with everything that is being said. My mother would have whooped my azz for disresepcting an adult and when I came home crying holding my tooth, she would have finished the job by knocking out another one! :D [Just playin']

But I also offer this for y'all to think about:

These children are a product of their environment; violence, poverty, neglect and chaos are an everyday thing. Are they beyond rehabilitation?

I have already heard people say that we "give up" on kids too easily and that the kids should not be "warehoused" in the prison system.

To me, it's one thing if these kids shoplifted some candy from the store around the corner or broke someone's window with a rock. I can work with that.

But it is quite another to beat a man Reginald Denny style and have no remorse whatsoever. I think they sealed their fate and I am not interested at all in indicting the system for what happened.

I have faced this situation before in my life. I did'nt get everybody, but you best believe the ones I did knock out, never forgot me.

I agree, and stated that in my previous post.

So am I. These children are'nt the only ones who've endured these conditions. The word of the day is CHOICE. They chose to do this horrendous act, so they have to pay the price.

No. They are'nt beyond jail either; which is where they will be!
