Rock Stars
 

My sorority is having a rush tonight called "Rock Stars" where everyone dresses up like a famous rocker.

A couple of them don't have outfits yet and are in need of some ideas of who they can be...any suggestions?

Britney Spears (you could actually have several Brits and Madonnas)

If there is a sister who doesn't feel like shaving her armpits, she can go as Patti Smith. ;)

Britney Spears, of course! Very simple in the school girl style... or you can go rocker-style with the tube-sock-on-the-arm look!

Christina Aguilera from "Lady Marmalade" video -- wear a bustier and crimp your hair (perhaps a little risque for recruitment events though).

MC Hammer in huge pants and chains... or any other rapper in a "wife beater" tank top and jeans with one leg rolled up, one rolled down.

Pink -- wear all pink.

Destiny's Child -- three of you could do it together with matching outfits.

Elvis -- draw on sideburns, gel hair, wear a jump suit (maybe carry a fried peanut butter-banana-marshmallow sandwich around)!

Marilyn Monroe -- not REALLY a rock star, but such a cute costume... wear a white dress and sing "Happy Birthday, MR. President."

A Dixie Chick -- wear leather pants, a printed cowgirl hat, etc...

Avril Lavigne -- wear baggy jeans, a tank top and a tie with dark eye makeup.

Madonna -- eighties style with a cone bra or lace gloves.

Kelly Osbourne, or even Ozzy -- wear a lot of black, maybe a Union Jack shirt or something... crazy hair.

Michael Jackson -- one glove, gelled hair... make a new nose out of Silly Putty.

Gene Simmons of Kiss -- wear white makeup with the black eyliner star around the eye.

Lil' Kim -- ha, probably not... WAY too scandalous!

One of you could be the girl from the White Stripes -- she is a brunette and only wears red, black or white clothing at all times.

Is it just me or am I the only one who doesn't think Brittnay qualifies as a "ROCK" star? ... pop-teeny-bopper star, maybe.. but *definately* not rock!!! I am an avid rock music fan... and to call brittnay a rock star is like calling Barney the King of Alernative music

Of course, Britney (as well as many of the other stars I listed), falls into a different genre. However, I am pretty sure that for most "Rock Star" events, no one is going to take the term so literally that people can only dress as performers from the rock genre. It's just an opinion call as to what category people fall into sometimes anyway. (for instance, MXPX is sometimes considered punk, but some people also consider them Christian rock, Shania Twain is country but also adult contemporary, etc...)

this is probably too late, but for anyone else considering the same party theme:

Rock star women:
Tina Turner (only for a girl with stellar gams)
Janis Joplin (fun, with a feather boa and a big hat)
Annie Lennox (a lot of looks to go with on this one-I would do the suit)
Debbie Harry (Blondie)
Stevie Nicks (a fairly easy one given how popular the peasant look was this summer)
Diana Ross and the Supremes
Or any other Motown girl groups would be great, Martha and the Vendelas, The Shirelles (great, matching dresses and highly styled hair are a must)
Dolly Parton (mo mistaking that costume)
Sinead O'Connor (this one'd be very funny)
Cher (more than one of these would be okay)
The women from the The B 52s (again, big hair and cute dresses)
Sade (for the most elegant among you)
Courtney Love (does anyone have a baby doll dress? Or, you could do Courtney before and after-- the Hole Courtney and the Movie Star Courtney)
The Go Gos (love this one, tres 80s)
Gloria Estefan (lots of looks for her too, I love the sophisticated Cuba-in-the-50s look she sported a few years ago)
Janet Jackson (again, a wealth of looks, many girls could try this one)
Oliva Newton John (again, I love the 80s, someone could wear a workout outfit like she did in the "Physical" video.)

Oh man, I came in here all excited to suggest Meg White from the White Stripes and sororitygirl2 was all over it.

Ah well. It would be totally easy though. Doesn't every girl own red pants? Plus, it would be way cooler to be the rock star of someone who has good music instead of Certain Other "Rock" Stars that I will not name.

That's Paul Stanley. Gene Simmons was the demon, with black around both eyes. Peter Criss was the cat, and Ace Frehley was the space man :)
