Can anyone recommend some good places to shop in London? I leave Monday and cannot wait!

One word---- Harrod's. It's amazing! Huge, they have everything from food, toys, clothes it's great! Word of warning, it's a bit on the expensive side, fun to look though. On the affordable side there is Spencer & Marks. Have a great time in London, it truely is one of the world's greatist cities. I love London! Have fun.

Also, there is a market called Covet Gardens. There are arts and crafts type items there. As well as regular little gift shops and little caffes. Another little bonus is they have street preformers walking around. Very Disneyesque. It's nice to spend time there.
But really, don't miss Harrod's. It's in Knightsbridge, a neighborhood in London.

Lush . . . It's kind of like their version of bath and bodyworks. They have some amazing shampoos and facial products. Just a tip, coming back through customs to the U.S. anything you've actually worn (or looks like you've worn) doesn't have to be declared. So if you're planning on spending a decent chunk of change (I think it's over $500???) wear or use whatever it is that you've bought while you're there.

Actually, it's Marks and Spencer, not the other way around.

I second the recommendation for Harrod's. You also can't miss Fortnum & Mason. Fantastic tea :) and some specialty foods.

Go to Liberty of London if it's still there (they filed for bankruptcy, and their NYC store closed some time ago, I'm not sure about the London store). They have several nice fabric patterns that they've developed (mostly paisleys), and you can get skirts, scarves, ties, etc. in those patterns. They also have an entire section devoted to cross stitch and needlepoint kits (a hobby of mine).

Go to the flea markets! They're great!

OK.. pretty much anywhere.. they have such great stores.. i was lucky enough to do all of my school shopping there bc I was there when all of the big sales were going on..

I recommend though united colors of benetton, next (well I got really cute sunglasses there), the brand eisenegger(egr), accessorize (its sort of like a nicer claries type store-- cute purses and belts!), and french connection is big there..

Oh yeah... HAVE FUN!!! I loved living there this summer :D

Also, for gorgeous lingerie: Rigby and Peller...they are the corset makers to the Queen and they're close to Harrod's.

As for Harrod's, it is good for looking, but not shopping...too expensive!

Boots Drugstores for their "No. 7" brand makeup.

Marks and Spencer (or Marks and Sparks for short).

I agree, go check out Harrod's. BUT, don't do what I did and walk in with a backpack. :) I just went to go look at their cool decor and didn't plan on buying anything. The second I walked in, a security guard said "Excuse me, miss, please carry your rucksack in your hand." Like it's such a nice store that my backpack would ruin the scenery. :rolleyes:

Anyway..... :) Harrod's is expensive though.

"Next" is a good store; it's where I shop. Though, I think they have those in the US. Also, Top Shop is pretty hip. Sometimes nice things can be found in Debenham's department store. If nothing else, go into department stores to check out the ladie's hat department! They are so fun to try on - like you're going to a royal wedding or something.

I've never shoped at Marks and Sparks for clothes, only groceries - can't help there. :)

Oh, and by the way, the name of the place Lisa Fishman recommended is "Covent Garden".

covent gardens and soho. they have the BEST fashion, in my opinion, in London. From extremely tasteful to on the wild side, but always with some sort of understated elegance and the clothes are of a higher quality and built to last!

The Heck with that, I am still trying to find out if Sherlock Holmes Pub on North Umberland is still Open! An Alley Way from the Thames to Trafalger Square!

Harrods, Neat but very expensive!!!!!!!!!!! Covent Gardens, nice place to Browse!

My cousin got a shirt there that says FC UK (French Connection of the United Kingdom) but people here have dirty minds and on the first glance always think it says something else :rolleyes:

IMO, Camden Lock is the absolute best place to shop, specially on weekends..... it;s like a huge fair, great stuff, all different kinds.
Lots of hip stuff, I got all my favorite clothes there. I usually stay in Covent Garden, that's nice too.
