Breaking News

(Chicago) September 27, 2002 - It all started when one particular TKE could not stop reading useless news on the internet. But this particular addiction turned ugly at some point.

Said TKE had to fill up the entire GreekChat forum with a lot of useless news on a daily basis to get his high. Other GC members have decided to confront him about this. They also think it's a liability for John Hammel as most, if not all, of the information is copyrighted.

"He is making my online GC experience rather annoying," claimed a fraternity man who chose to be anonymous. "Why should I have to sort between useless posts and his," screamed GC regular Rudey.

This has caused quite a commotion around here. Please do not erase this post zntke as you have already done several times because you do not agree with it. Erase the many articles which you constantly steal and post. Do not abuse your mod privileges.

Dionysus 09-27-2002 02:14 PM

I find his articles amusing. There's a whole lot more annoying things floating around GC than that.

The1calledTKE 09-27-2002 02:17 PM

Ok I will keep it up but maybe I will keep on posting news. I planned on stopping who knows now. In the chit chat description it list news as one of the thing you can talk about.

I agree with Dionysus.

zntke I hope you keep this thread open because I enjoy reading your posts! I know a lot of people will agree with me.

If you consider his posts "useless", maybe you should try and use the Ignore function instead of starting up isht on GreekChat.

librasoul22 09-27-2002 02:20 PM

I, for one, find Rudey far more annoying than zntke. But that's just me.

AlphaGam1019 09-27-2002 02:22 PM

lol, maybe you should include everyone who's ever posted an article on GC. whoa...a liability. someone, call a lawyer

Readin the ap site, its says as long as you site it came from ap its ok. If no body could use ap articles because they were copy righted then news organiztions, newspapers, ect would be screwed.

Steeltrap 09-27-2002 02:43 PM

I don't mind the news topics, as a reporter myself.
:p

thesweetestone 09-27-2002 02:45 PM

Those articles help me keep up with the news.

dzrose93 09-27-2002 02:50 PM

Personally, I enjoy the news threads a lot more than some other Chit Chat topics. I'd much rather visit the Chit Chat forum and learn that the woman who beat her child in the Kohl's parking lot has been caught than read yet another thread on cheesy pickup lines. :D The news articles help to get a lot of interesting debates going -- some of them definitely get people to start "chit chatting." ;)

Before you blatantly lie, perhaps you'd actually like to read the AP website. Also remember a lot of what you post has been from Reuters and CNN.

OohTeenyWahine, perhaps you should just ignore my posts instead of commenting on them?

Librasoul, you're just upset because someone actually corrected you on your WWII history and told you America is not the greatest enemy. It's all good.

AlphaGam, yeah you're not biased...wait what relation do you have to zntke again?

dzrose, I understand what you mean. However there is a difference between posting one story and posting 5 frivolous stories he saw on the "strange stories" section. If your comment is that you like reading the stories, please visit a news website. Am I wrong on this?

I'm also sure you all enjoy these threads...all of which manage to take up a whole lot of space on my computer but you don't seem to really reply to them do you? I've seen at the most 4 or 5 replies to any of them.

I don't think I've attacked or offended zntke. I am just stating that this bothers me and it's also illegal. My frustration arises from the fact that this thread was deleted 6 times along with several other of my threads even though they violated no rules. zntke who did break the rule and who did erase my posts, did not erase any of his threads.

For the most part, I do ignore your posts Rudey. This is the first post in a long time that I've actually replied.

The thing is, I can't visit many news sites on this computer. Our IT guys have got so many firewalls up that it blocks many of the sites -- I can't even look at the NBC news site anymore. It's really frustrating. That's why I enjoy being able to look on GC and find current news articles that have been cut and pasted. :) When the article about the mother beating her child was posted, I tried to find out more info from news sites and couldn't because my computer wouldn't take me to the websites. All the info that I got came directly from GC's Chit Chat forum until I was finally able to get an update about it on the news later that night.

I understand that you don't like having to sift through the news articles on Chit Chat, and that it's frustrating for you. It's frustrating to me to see frivolous threads like "what do you have on your vanity plate?" It's just personal preference, and what's irritating to one person may be really interesting to someone else.

At any rate, I can see both sides of the coin and can sympathize with each. We're looking for a solution that will be a good compromise for everyone. Please give us some time to work on it. :)

librasoul22 09-27-2002 03:51 PM

Rudey...that was so like 100 threads ago. I told you thanks for the history lesson and moved on. Why don't you?

As for this entire thread, I think you are having your alpha male issues again.

At first, you were kinda funny...now you just suck. Get over it.
