'02-'03 scorecard
"Are we adding or losing, or getting better, overall?" asked some GCer recently, so let's start a scorecard:
Chapter deaths this school year: none known as of Sept. 27 Chapter charterings this school year: ? Better pledge training, less hazing: Minus two pledges, 9/27/02: Kristin High, 22, CSU, Los Angeles, Alpha Kappa Alpha - drowned in the rough waters of Dockweiler Beach Kenitha Saafir, 24, CSU, Los Angeles, Alpha Kappa Alpha - drowned in the rough waters of Dockweiler Beach Although I assume that some will say this is stupid or worse, it's just news. We can't get better by ignoring bad news. |
Chapter charterings - well, at least 2 JUST FROM READING THIS BOARD.
Zeta Tau Alpha - Kansas U Delta Gamma - North Carolina State U come on, if you're going to actually do this (which I think is rather lame, unless we have all the info from everywhere) at least make an appearance of trying to gather positive AND negative information. |
Well DZ added 3 new colonies!
|
But those aren't charterings... those are colonizations, guys! There's a difference... which one are we counting?
|
Recolonization
Michigan State ( hopefully my baby brother will join) and one other school so far for Pi Kappa Phi. We are going to either recolonize or colonize 6 schools this year. Two have already had Pi Kapp chapters and the other four are brand new schools for Pi Kappa Phi.
|
Mine is the only Sigma Nu chapter to be founded (new) since 1999. I'm not really sure about recolonizations. Because HQ deals with dormant/suspended chapters on an individual basis I really don't know how I'd get this data for you. I'm about 99% sure that no Sigma Nu has died in a hazing incedent for quite awhile...
|
Charterings are groups that are DONE colonization. So you can add the Gamma Beta Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon which chartered in August, 2002.
|
A better resource on hazing deaths/injuries/incidents can be found at www.stophazing.org. Mr. Nuwer keeps it updated as often as he can...
