On Wisconsin

I know some of you may follow wishinhopin's thread about colonization. Her dedication and hard work has inspired me to-recolonize Alpha Xi Delta. Up untill this semester, I attended UW-Eau Claire and was an active member of the chapter there (I posted here in often last year). I transfered to my current university because I changed career paths and UWEC did not offer what I needed. There is no AXiD chapter here to affilate with; sadly, within the past decade it was erradicated....why or how I have yet to find out. I would love to revive it here in Madison, to share it with a new generation of speical women. My drive to realise this dream has overwhelmed my fear of the Herculean task of colonization. And I am confident that AXiD would love to revive a dormant chapter, espeically at primeir Big Ten campus.

I was just wondering if some one could suggest a plan of action:

Should I get an intrest group first then go to PanHell to Vote on extension?

-or-

Should I go to PanHell first, then set up a group?

Your time and adice is mucho appreciated....

While I'm sure that each of us would love to see a dormant chapter revived, the task of doing so at university with a large greek system can be involved.

The first major part for expansion is the proper authority provision in the NPC unanimous agreements as set out in the "green book". The campus panhellenic council ( as the proper authority in this case) must first agree that a new chapter is needed. As doubleblue&gold said, the strength of the whole NPC system on the campus must be considered first. If there are groups that are below total, the campus may decided to work on helping them before asking anyone else to colonize. If recruitment numbers are steady (or even going down) there might not be enough women interested to justify opening to a new group. There are alot of conditions that must be in place and research done before a campus, especially one with a large greek community, opens for expansion.

My first step would be to join the alumnae association in the area. The more alumnae support there is for a new chapter the better the chances are for them to be chosen.

Thanks ladies! I have contaced the Greek community adivsor this morning and I hope to hear from him soon. He should have a general idea how does the climate look for expansion.

Thanks again!

when i went to TLC in '98, I think thats when i heard the story of why it went dormant.... needless to say, it wasn't good. PM me if you want to hear it. I don't know how true it was, but it was from an ELC...so who knows, but i dont want to air the chapters'dirty laundry on here.
