Film

Okay...does anybody know of good grad programs for film? I know USC and UCLA but I need back ups. Prefably where I can get contacts and have something to show when I graduate. Please help. I"m a starving artist. Well maybe not artist but starving.

I heard University of Florida has a great film program, but it may have just been a rumor... I haven't checked it out or anything.

USC, UCLA, NYU and AFI. That's probably about it in terms of good contacts and serious credibility in the business.

I have a friend who graduated from University of Southern California (USC) film school; I've heard it was pretty good.

BUT, guess what!! Mr. Steven Spielberg himself just graduated from California State University Long Beach (my alma mater) just this last June 2002. His degree? BA in Film and Electronic Arts with an option in Film/Video Production. For his final project, he submitted "Shindler's List"!! :)

GO BEACH!!! I imagine that our already impacted Radio, TV, and Film Department will be getting even more applications now!

......Kelly :)

My understanding is that the film and tv programs at SFSU are really well respected.

OP, can I be in the first film you make?

Good Film Schools...

I've heard good things about NYU-Tisch, Columbia, UCLA, USC, and CalArts. One of my good friends is applying to film school right now.

Have you started making films yet? I had NO IDEA how expensive it was until my friend started making films for class. Each one, even a 5 or 10 minute tape, costs at least $100--including developing. I was shocked.

Okay, so there are different type of film schools. There are industry ones where you learn to sell product to Hollywood. They pay for your movie, but they own the copywright if you make it there. Then there are indepentant ones where you learn to get money and get to film but everyone gets to make their film. Are those harder to get into?? Please Help!!!!!!!!! Also, I'm going to post this in chit chat so it will get more traffic.
