Frat Pick-up needed
MY frat seems to be lagging, we dont really do anything and we are drifting apart, our brotherhood is going down the tubes.
we need some things to bring us back together and revive our Frat Boy status that out school once knew. Lately all we've had for fun was a few drives around and a few dinners with a meager amount of us brothers actually there. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to bring our frat to it full potential? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif eth-man |
The motivation for your brotherhood has to start within your chapter. When I was a member of our exec board, we always acted as excited as possible about events that we knew the membership wouldn't express much interest in. You would be amazed at how effective this was. Talk to some of your brothers, I bet they are feeling the same way you are. Once a couple of you realize this, plan a brotherly event with your Social Chairperson. Start talking it up EVERY STINKIN' CHANCE YOU GET. Ask members about it, talk to them about it, etc. The excitement tends to wear off on those around you.
While this is a good instant fix, you also need to look at what it is that is causing the lack of interest in the brothers? Ask them what isn't meeting their needs/expectations. Then ask them how they would like to see this fixed. Often if you just ask for their input, the brothers will become more involved. Best of luck!! |
first, I say get some mixers going with all the sororities. have a 10 way mixer-those are the most fun. Also, if you're a national, take a road trip to another chapter at another school. we did visits all the time-also to other fraternities(i'm in a sorority). get some socials at local bars, have house parties. I don't understand how anyone would go through pledging to not be a part of something. you all pledged for some purpose. My sorority and alumni are very tight-and we're a local!
Get to the root of the problem at a meeting and remind everyone of why you pledged and the purpose of the fraternity. How are you ever going to get pledges if you don't show unity and brotherhood? |
Hey Eth, that's cool!!!
Why don't build a distillery and get the ladies down in the basement! ------------------ -ng- |
Two words: Brotherhood Ritual. Get your officers together and have your chaplain/ritual chair/whatever you call it create a ritual that goes back to the roots of where your fraternity comes from. As I am not a member of your fraternity I cannot put forth much input towards your ideals, but a brotherhood ritual would be crucial dude. Also, organize some sort of brotherhood event (i.e. mountain weekend, beach weekend, etc.)

even though this is an old thread...
stop using the word frat, maybe someone would respect you. |
This may be an old thread, but for anyone who's interested, a couple of things my chapter does is have Brotherhood Night once a week that's officially designated to doing different things together as a chapter and the events are scheduled well in advance.
We also go away on retreat weekend once a semester, the entire active chapter. The second one certainly made for an interesting weekend when I was living here as a pledge this semester and woke up to find the house empty all day. :D It wasn't until it was almost midnight that I remembered, "Oh yeah that's right.. they went on retreat this weekend." :D |
Tackle Football!!!
separate yourselves between pledge classes/pledge lines... play some football... eat some bbq. thats fun times. |
