Political Endorsements

I just saw a commercial endorsing a local politician here in Miami in which he is shown walking across campus with several NPC/NIC greeks in letters. There was even a Rho Gamma (a recruitment guide for npc recruitment) in the scene.

My question is:
Don't organizations need to get permission from their Inter/National office in situations like this where people can misconstrue the endorsement as one of the entire organization?

I thought the same thing

This situation is kind of different, but In my old college town, there was a commercial for a local "club" that didnt get too much business. In the commerical, ALL the members of one of the fraterities there were shown in their greek lettered shirts saying lame stuff like "isn't there anything better to do? Let's go to ---" And one of the scenes in the commercial showed the guys drinkingn from red plastic cups wearing their letters.

Both real bad ideas.

I think the only way an idea like that would work is if the "letters" were made up and not real but then it would be in REAL bad taste. Shame on those who did that. Everyone should treat this as a lesson of some type- though I don't know how to define it!
