SOOOO SCARED!!!
 

Well rush is probably still at least a month away...but the "rush rules" start this thursday after freshman orientation.
I, as some of you many know, am transfering to Cal State Northridge in the fall and I am rushing. I have friends in almost every sorority there, except one, and I am kind of stuck between two. My best friend is in Alpha Xi Delta, and I'm sure she wants me to go her way. Lately I've been hanging out with Alpha Phis and getting to know their house really well and developing good friendships there, and it doesn't look like my best friend is too happy about that. Aphis is something I'm really feelin...but because of everthing thats happening with rules, friends, bla bla...I almost feel like not rushing anymore. Starting Thursday I can't ride with any of them in their cars or go with them anywhere until after rush. I CAN see them at a party and hang out with them there. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif It kinda sucks too because my b-day is at the end of this month (the 31st) and none of them can be there unless I invite at least one person from every sorro to go. EEEEERRRRR !!!! SUCKS!! AND i'm confused so much that I don't feel like rushing anymore...

Don't let things get you down about rush! Anyone who was your friend going into rush will still be your friend after no matter where you go if they were a true friend! Just tell them that you want to keep an open mind and not favor anyone until you give every sorority a fair chance during rush. Your situation is so similar to mine even though I went through rush more than ten years ago! I ended dropping out because I was a legacy at two great houses on my campus and my boyfriend at the time had two sister in laws in two OTHER great houses and the house that I loved the most was the rival of all four houses. Isn't that crazy! And coincidentally, it was Alpha Phi that I wanted. There was no ZTA chapter yet so I dropped out right before preference and joined ZTA. I don't regret my decision AT ALL but two things I wonder about after all these years. 1) What would I have joined if I rushed as a freshman (ZTA wasn't there then) and 2) fi I did join Alpha Phi, would I have loved it/hated it? What?

I think that you need to put everything out of your mind, who you know, who you like etc and realize that you need to make the decision that is best for you. At preference, imagine you sick as a dog greasy hair, vomit on your shirt and which house would you feel most comfortable being around in all your "glory." That was advice that I wish my Rho Chi had given me.

Good luck with everything. It seems like maybe these rush rules are designed with people like you in mind and just remember, there are million other birthdays to celebrate and next year you want to spend it with people you really love and genuinely love you back, right??
