Membership Drive

I am now our area's Alumna Membership Chair. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get people involved. The social chairs do a great job of planning things once a month. Activites that are open to all area alumnae and easily accessible by public transportation. There are about 500 Alum members in this area. However, only a fifth of those pay dues and two or three dozen come out to events. Any suggestions on how to get those sitting at home to come out?

Dang, I wish I had an answer for you?

Last night we had our monthly B & B Alum meeting and only had 5!

But we still had fun!

How about a Cigar Smoke? Da Sounds Crazy BUT?

How about a Charity Event, that gets the Name of the Alum Group in PR!?

An Alum Golf thing for the Girls. May be whiff and giggle but fun!

When get enuff members a Nice Dress Dance and Dinner! Women always like to dress up

:)

Yep is tuff, I know!!!!! But do not let it go by the way side!

What you're experiencing is not uncommon at all. I can only tell you what my alum club does-- we have ~180-200 paid members and probably average 40 at our Wed night meetings. (there are 900 on our HQ printout if that gives you an idea for comparison).
THe fall newsletter with a complete calendar for the year goes out in Sept to everyone on the printout (I do the newsletter so I can tell you first hand how much work that is). The winter newsletter goes only to dues paid members. We have a very good email chair and she sends out reminders a week before and the day before meetings or other events. Reminder postcards are sent to dues paid members who requested them.

Having gone through a decline in my previous club (and no, that was not in Texas... I will agree that things are a bit different in the Lone Star State), the thing that helped most was a survey sent to all Pi Phis on the printout... we asked what they wanted, what would get them out of the house, what time/ place... and then did a mix of day/ night, weekend/ weekday events.

Asking the folks who are coming and are paying dues won't tell youwhy the other 80% aren't!

Check with your APP or RAD (regional alumnae director) for more ideas... contact me if you don't know who they are..
