Do I stand a chance?

Hi--I am going to be a sophomore in the fall...I had a very successful freshman year, I have a great GPA, scholarships, lots of activities...everything was great except I really regret not joining the Greek system. I went through formal recruitment, and informal...I received some bids and learned that although sorority life was not really what I expected, it was still something I wanted to be a part of.
Here is the part where I need help. Since I have spent a year on campus I have a good feel for the houses and I know which ones I would like to join. What should I do? Do I need to get recs from alumni? How do I explain my situation if girls remember me from previous rush events? I had a pretty successful rush last year, but I know it will be more difficult for me as a sophomore who has turned down houses, etc. I want to make the best impression possible, what do I need to do?
I would really appreciate any advice!!! Thanks so much!

you're right, the groups that gave you bids before are probably going to wonder what's up. have you thought of what you'd say if anyone asked? you rejected them before (in a sense) and now you're asking for another chance. some groups might be willing, others wouldn't even bother with you.

what exactly WAS your previous situation? what were your reasons for not wanting to pledge then, and what are your reasons for thinking you want to do it now?

getting recs from alumnae can only help you. it will make the girls give you a second look. they will try a bit harder to get to know you. you probably don't NEED a rec in order to get a bid (depending on your school), but if you can get one, it will only help.
