Rushee at Eastern Michigan U
 

There was a post that a read a few minutes ago that said that some of you would be interested in threads started by people who are planning on rushing this fall. I figured I might as well, since by doing so I may help a future rushee. I'm going to be an incoming freshman this fall at Eastern Michigan University. So far I've gone to as many web sites as I could find that have information on the sororities at Eastern, as well as asking everyone that I've met about them. That's also why I registered for this forum, to acquire more information regarding greek life. Rush doesn't start until mid-September, but I'll try to keep everyone updated. I've also gone to 2 of the bars here and have met many great people who are a part of greek life at Eastern. In the meantime though...does anyone have any advice for rush?

Stay out of the bars..that's the best advice I can give you at this point. Even if you are of an age to be legally drinking or if the event at the bar is 'all-ages', your presence at the bar could affect you adversely come time for recruitment.

That is correct! I don't think it's a biggie right now during the summer, but once school starts everyone gets weirded out when PNMs are at the bar or because no one wants to get their GLO in trouble. You'll have plenty of chances to meet people after Recruitment!

Last year, a few of my sisters, a couple of another sorority's sisters, and I were hanging out at the Phi Sig Phi house (kind of a low key, unofficial party since we weren't supposed to be having parties) and some PNMs showed up. Everyone freaked out! All us sorority girls went out on the porch and hid, the PNMs felt uncomfortable because no one was talking to them and they knew we were uncomfortable, and the guys were pissed because we all bolted outside. It was just a bad situation for everyone.
