UW rush stats

I won't be posting a detailed rush thread from the "other side" due to lack of time, but I thought i'd just post some info....recruitment starts tomorrow (Sunday) at the U of Washington here in Seattle. Currently registered are 610 PNMs, and There are 16 NPC sororities here. That's all for now!

Hey, I'm supposed to come over and help out the AXD's with pref on Saturday. The prez said it starts at 2 and I could come whenever, but I'm thinking I don't want to get there in the middle of a party! How early should I be?

DPhiEAngel 09-19-2002 06:36 PM

I wish there was a DPhiE chapter at UW so that I could help out. I'm new to the Seattle area, and most people out here haven't heard of DPhiE :(

Oh, one question. I heard that at UW if you pledge a sorority, then you are expecting to move in by the time school starts. That seems like such an odd policy to me. What if you are from out of state... where do you stay during rush? What if you want to drop out... I guess you have to immediately move out and find a new place to live? Just curious... I haven't heard of anything like this until I moved out here.

FuzzieAlum 09-19-2002 06:41 PM

I'm not actually a student at UW and never was, but here's my stab at an answer. (I think the students are all busy!) :)

Rush is held before school starts, so theoretically no one is moved in yet. Of course, if you're out of the area you need a place to stay, so they give anyone who wants one *very* temporary dorm rooms for the duration of rush. If you drop out, I'm not sure what their policy is on finding you a room.

phimualumuw 09-19-2002 07:26 PM

New members are expected to move in after accepting bids. When I went through (several years ago) we were encouraged to request university housing so that you had something in place in the event that you did not pledge. Reservations would be canceled with no fees for women accepting bids. With the housing crunch in the area the policy was and women who request a dorm room and end up pledging are charged a late cancel fee. I'm not sure what the policy is for women who end up not pledging.

FuzzieAlum is right about the recruitment housing situation. PNMs can sign up for temporary housing for recruitment week.

Hey, y'all! Well today is Bid Day, and I have a free moment to post...we got our list around 5 am this morning...33 amazing girls make up our new PC 2002! Quota was 31...we're super excited about how well we did! I don't know anything about the other 15 chapters on campus as of yet, but i'm sure they all did well also because we really do have incredible GLO's here. I'll post again when I find out more!

canadajen 09-22-2002 02:36 PM

I will try to find out from my friend who is the Gamma Phi Alum advisor how Gamma Phi did (it is a really strong chapter so I'm sure they got a great class)
