Silly letters question!!
I have a silly question! I was looking at some pictures and also noticed on the Emporium website...there are the letters II O A on shirts and things. Can someone explain this to me?! I thought this was for boyfriends and fathers to wear, but I saw some girls wearing those letters. So, who can wear them?!
Thanks! |
I always thought it was for husbands, but I don't know for sure. Shala, if you're out there, can you answer this one?

I'm confused too because I saw a picture from Alpha Lambda bid day this year and there were girls with letters that said II O A. I thought maybe it had gotten scanned wrong (you know mirror image) or something till you brought this up.

IIOA
They are husbands' shirts. My husband wears his everywhere. I don't know about the collegiate chapter having them on bid day????

My understanding was that it was just for boyfriends/husbands/brothers/other significant males. I would have to say that the pictures of the letters on sisters is a mirror image (could be wrong but that's the only explanation I can think of!).
While I was going through one of the boxes in the archives I came across and 'initiation ritual' for IIOAs! It was rather funny (kind of a tongue in cheek sort of ritual). talking about making sure to support your wife, etc in a very funny way. If I get down there again I'll have to find the papers and make a copy - of that and some other really cool stuff! |
our chapter makes II O A shirts for our fraternity guys and friends to wear as PR, but they are always boyfriends or close friends. They love it because it always makes people look twice! Its a great PR tool and guys will wear them constantly :)

Hey all!
That photo was scanned wrong .. no worries.... IIOA shirts are for husband's/common law SIGO's (significant others) to wear. I know that RT&J are looking at this because of usgae (like lavilere's - who can wear them).... :) |
