confused about different forms of rush!
I am reading up on rush, and I am completely new to this process. I just considered rushing today, and I am looking around for info. I looked at my schools website, and it didnt say anything about applications, reccomendations or anything prior to the start of school. Does this mean my school is different or am I just not finding the right information? Im confused!

Hi JMUduke. Welcome to Greekchat.
Depending on what school you go to also depends on the caliber of Recruitment. I can tell you that it varies on different campuses! What college/university are you going to attend this Fall? Or are you already in college? Do you attend James Madison or Duke? It's somewhat hard to tell by your screen name. Hopefully some of us on GreekChat can help once we know what school we're looking at. |
Great answer OTW! As always- awesome chick!!!
Let us know what part of the great USA you will be attending (East Coast, West Coast, MidWest or Southern) - and we (Greek Chat) can help you a lot! Good luck with rush!! Sue ------------------ "It is not something you just become; it is something you've always been." |
Well thanks so far...I am trasnfering to James Madison as a sophomore. As far as I can tell there is not much info about recs/apps, which is why Im so confused by some girls saying that yes they have recs now, and so on. JMU is in western Virginia. And do you have any other good sites about the rush process or testimonials? Thanks so much!

I checked out the JMU Fraternity and Sorority website, and this is what I got out of it:
As far as other good recruitment sites, I really can't think of any other ones right now...mainly it's because I spend all my time here. GC is a fabulous reference tool especially at this time of the year, and I hope the previous Rush posts can be of some help to you! |
ok thanks so much...i looked at that information as well myself, but i have one more question! recs are not required, but its good to have one? will it be harder to get a bid without one? ok...well im going to root around gc for some more info, but thanks so much!

If a sorority is truly interested in you, they will search out a recommendation for you.
In the meantime, speak with your female relative, the mothers of your friends or ladies at your church/synagogue or club and ask them if they were in a sorority. If they were, ask them to write a letter of reference (rec) for you and send it to their chapter at JMU. However, don't kill yourself trying to do so. More and more campuses are downplaying the need for rec's and making the chapters do the work (which is how it should be). Quote:
