I thought I should let you all know...
 

I disassociated from my sorority last week.

It was not on angry terms at all.

I went home last weekend, to spend the 1 year anniversary of my father's death with my mother and sister. We talked a lot about priorities and life, and my sorority came up in the conversation.

My sorority has just changed a lot since I pledged, and I truly didn't feel it was something I should continue involvement with at this stage of my life. I didn't feel that my ideals fit with the ideals of the sorority in it's new form.

I am still a great supporter of greek life on all campuses. I highly recommend to all my friends in college that they rush just to get the experience, and that maybe through doing that they'll find their niche at their school.

I hope I'm still welcome here, because I truly enjoy the chats and dynamic on these boards.

Shine, as I said before, I am really, really sorry about your father, and my heart goes out to you and your family.

I really enjoy your posts and I hope that you will stay! I think its really wonderful and wise of you to realize that your sorority no longer parallels your own ideals... better to disassociate than to be part of a group you cannot be 100% proud to be affliated with.

I'm really looking forward to reading your posts in the future, no matter what the topic!

Thanks for your responses, guys. I'm doing OK about my dad. Quitting my sorority was a very hard decision, but I know it was the correct one.

It was very hard on me when My Mother Passed Away and still is after 4 years! I still tear up over Her, she was a very special Lady!

I think, if there is a way that maybe you can stay as a Member of Your Org. it might be good to look into!
