meeting men?
Okay so I was in the bookstore last night checking things out and this guy is looking at the same books. We make eye contact and talk for a second and then I froze up and moved along. UGH! I have never mastered the art of flirting and really don't know what to say. How do you learn such things? I feel like the bookstore would be a nice place to meet men, do men feel the same? How can I be in my twenties and still feel like I am twelve?

Yeah i feel the same way. Book stores are where I'm told I'll meet my soul mate. I can't flirt either. they should just be like, You're nice be my date it would be so much better

EXACTLY!!! We have this figured out why don't they? According to my three closest male friends they seem to think that if I go out I will come back with several dates. I tell them that is not the way it is but they insist that women can just go out and pick up dates like a cup of coffee.
The first part of the problem is that I am home on the computer talking about the problem rather than out doing something about it! |
Its harder for the guy!!! Be nice girls:)
Ok. its wierd, we get older but girls dating strategy seems to get younger. Many, maybe most of you wait to be asked. Its like a giant grade school gymnasium again during a dance. Girls one side, boys on the other, and glaring fricking lights in between. Ok boys remember something: Girls really want to be talked to by boys! (maybe not you all of the time but generally). So learn to make eye contact and be flirty. And remmber to fricking look good! Tone up and wear nice clothes . . grooming is important too!! Girls!!!! help us out a little ok: Make eye contact, smile, and maybe hold it a second or two longer than you should . . .? LEarn to be flirty? Ask our opinion on something? Learn good body language? This thread totally echos how I feel! I don't get what I do wrong so maybe someone will come along and tell us all. I am always really nice, not horrible to look at and relatively outgoing, but I never get the..."so maybe we should go out sometime" line after my attempts , what's the deal!? I feel that I click with guys because growing up an only girl I think I know how to communicate with them a little better, but I guess I'm doing something all wrong! Help!! :)

To be honest, I'm not terrified to go up and talk to girls, but I am terrified to finish the conversation off, and ask them to go out. I honestly can say I met my ex-girlfriend at Borders Bookstore, and it was kind of weird because I always thought it would never happen at a bookstore. We clicked instantly, I bought her a cup of coffee, etc. I do love girls that are shy, but excessive shyness can be a bit of a turnoff.

I met a guy today :D He's in my American Literature class and I'd noticed him and I know he's noticed me. So today I was the first one in class and we sit in a huge circle. Well he walks in and asks if it's okay if he sits next to me and introduces himself (how sweet). So we get to talking and find out we have a few things in common and know some of the same people. I found out where he works and he is a bouncer for some bar downtown on Thursday nights only. So before I left after class he told me to have a great weekend and even said my name ;) I think my friends and I will go see him next Thursday night...

I never go to bookstores, but I went last March to get some books on the stock market. So I was browsing the self help isle-cause lord knows I need some help :) and this guy noticed my stock market books and just started talking about other books I should get. Turns out he was a financial advisor-I was so embarrased being in the self help isle I could barely look at him.
